well said oslorovers guy is more than capable of doing a good job for us

An opinion based on what exactly?

I like Lewis as a person, his work rate is second to none and he is very quick. However the final product simply isn't there at this level, and no amount of goals on loan at Oldham, or any other lower league club is going to convince me otherwise.

He was a good prospect that has continuously failed to live up to his promise. Not through lack of effort, but sadly through lack of talent to cut it above division 1.

I'd say that's a pretty fair assessment of the situation big un!

Guy to do a Billy Sharp?  We need to get the lad signed up on a lucrative long term contract so we get the million quid for him off Oldham in that case!

It's been an up and down day:

UP: BBC Sport headline says, \"Oldham swoop for Doncaster's Guy.\"

DOWN: It's only a loan signing.

UP AGAIN: His contract's up at the end of the season.

Ok then, give this scenario unfolding...

We play Sheffield United on Saturday and Billy Sharp features in the game, grabbing himself a goal or two that gives us the three points.

Come the end of the season, Rovers want to sign Sharp on a permanent basis. We try and negotiate a fee with the Blades and they are awkward as possible with us because we played Sharp in this game - so much so that Sharp ultimately ends up being sold to another club.

Who wins then? Not us, not Sheffield United and the only party benefiting is an outsider capitalising on ill-feeling between DRFC and SUFC! Furthermore, relations between Blackwell & O'Driscoll then may also suffer.

I think the fact that some people on this forum would like to see us act very ungentlemanly towards Sheffield United probably says more about the individuals people making the statements more than anything else. Just why would you want to bite the hand that feeds us?

OK given that scenario at the end of the season both Rovers and Barnsley put bids in for Billy, Rovers at £2.5m and Barnsley at £2 - who are United going to sell to?

Or in your scenario, Billy doesnt play on Saturday, United win, same two clubs put bids in but this time its Rovers who bid £2m and Barnsley £2.5 - who are United going to sell to?

Yes, correct both times, they will sell to the highest bidder, if thats, us, Barnsley, Scunny or whoever. There is no sentimentality in football, just hard business sense. We have done United a huge favour by vastly increasing Billy's value from what it was when he arrived here, to what it will be in June. Who knows we might even have created a valuable striker for them for next season. Let them pick their own team on Saturday and we pick the best one we have available.

Courtesy of the BBC Live Text:

Code: [Select]
22:31 Penalty awarded for a foul by Danny Swailes on Lewis Guy.

, its not like Lewis to go down in the box. Oldham scored the penalty if anyone's interested.
