chicken and egg scenario
« on May 13, 2010, 03:00:20 pm by DMnumber4 »
Do people buy season tickets in the hope we sign players like Sharp and Shackell?

Or

Do the board splash out on signings like the afore mentioned players in a bid to entice a greater number of season ticket holders?

Discuss.

People should buy tickets if they support Doncaster Rovers and want to watch Doncaster Rovers, regardless of who we may or may not sign.

I don't agree with all this \"people are waiting to see who we sign\" malarky?

Why wouldn't they get a season ticket if we don't sign sharp or shackell?

Would they get one if we got Sharp on a season long loan deal?

And how many of these floating fans does everyone think is waiting in the wings? 500, 1000, 2000, 5000?

Its ridiculous

I disagree. After last seasons lack of activity in the transfer market, why should people believe that the more season tickets that are sold, the more money will be spent on transfers. I believe some exciting, PERMANENT transfers would lead to substantially more season ticket sales. The powers that be are wealthy enough to take that gamble aren't they?

I have always believed that it is about getting bums on seats, and as we seem to be stuck in the 11k bracket , then a good signing can only help the figures, there is a price to pay for failure and the rewards are self-evident but what concerns me is that clubs are watching our movements in the market place and we CAN NOT compete with other clubs , Shackell would have been  the perfect player for us , Roberts was brilliant last season, but i think it was time for him to move for his own sake. and like others that have left ,life goes on and with J/R and S'OD etc we can build higher and stronger year on year.
Season ticket numbers are predictable now , what is required is enlargement of the stadium , this would help  spread the cost more evenly  with cut pricing and encourage  new fans through the turnstiles and build a larger fan base ready for the premiership .
