Song for Billy
« on July 07, 2010, 04:30:28 pm by DMnumber4 »
I'm not so sure \"billy sharp is the rovers number ten!\" quite fits now.

So how about the old classic:

\"Oh Billy Sharp is magic,
he wears a magic hat,
when he signed for Rovers,
he said \"i fancy that\",
he could have signed for Burnley
or Leeds scum but they're sh*te,
HE SIGNED FOR DONNY ROVERS COS WE'RE FCUKING DYNAMITE!\"

If you don't want your kids to hear swearing, don't take them to the football...

To Sir Duke by Stevie Wonder (yeah you know it...You can feel it all over)

Billy Sharp and Donny Rovers
Better Football you will never see yeah
Billy Sharp and Donny Rovers
Scoring goals that that others only dream yeah

(Complicated bit)

He could have signed for the Leeds
But Billy's too good to play for those cheats
He could have signed for Burnley
But it didn't feel right so he signed for Donny

Billy Sharp and Donny Rovers
Better Football you will never see yeah
Billy Sharp and Donny Rovers
Scoring goals that that others only dream yeah

(Don't worry about the complicated bit....just sing the chorus)
 B)

Funny... I thought there was a broad concensus on here that encouraging youngsters to follow the Rovers was a sensible policy... No?

There has been swearing at football since the year dot, hearing adults swearing loudly is something of an initiation at the football and is just part of growing up. I don't think it puts parents off taking their kids to the match. It'd be a sorry day if it was stopped.

Just for when we play the Blunts (to she'll be coming round the mountain)

If you take Sharp from Blades they go blunt
If you take Sharp from Blades they go blunt
If you take Sharp from Blades
Take Sharp from Blades
If you take Sharp from Blades they go blunt

Singing now Sharp's Donny 'til he dies
Now Sharp's Donny 'til he dies

And so on

To the tune - Stone Roses \"I am the Resurrection\"

Down, down when Burnley came down,
We heard them knocking on Sharp's door and we couldn't sleep at night.
But his face it had one place,
With no room at Bramall Lane he came to the Keepmoat.

Don't waste your words Brian Laws,
He's got nothing for you.
He don't care about Leeds,
or what they used to do....

Sharp is the resurrection and he is the light,
We couldn't ever bring ourselves to hate him if we tried.

Spot on, RD.

Swearing is part and parcel of the football atmosphere. There are designated family areas where language can be moderated but a bit of vitriol elsewhere adds something to the experience. It just wouldn't be the same if you couldn't call the referee a w**ker from time to time!

My Dad first took me to a Rover's game when I was six, and although I witnessed foul language from such an early age, it didn't affect or influence me in any f**king way.
Those Kitsons who are of the opinion that swearing in front of  young children leaves a permenant impression on them are talking b*llocks.
If they are easily offended by it they should make their way to the exit.......and f**k off.

Exactly. It is not about hearing swear words or protecting kids from them. When you have a car full of kids on the way to a match and you decide to teach them the words to a song, you can put your house on it that I won't teach them one with F****** W***** or something similar in it. Up to a certain age no self respecting Dad is going to sing songs like that out loud in front of his kids or his neighbours kids on tthe way or at the ground

Quality Street vs Blades:
Thank you very much for Billy Sharp,
Thank you very much, thank you very, very, very much. etc

Sean O'Driscoll's magic. He wears a magic hat.
And when he saw young Billy, he said I'm having that.
He could have signed for Leeds, the Dingles or Burnley,
But when he saw the Rovers, he said they're the team for me.

or:

Kevin Blackwell's tragic, He wears a tragic hat.
And when he saw young Billy, he said I'm selling that.
He could have played for Blades, but Blackwell is a knob,
And when he notches twenty then poor Blackwell's lost his job.

To the tune of Jolene:

Billy, Billy, Billy, Billy
Im begging of you please take on your man
Billy, Billy, Billy, Billy
Make him look a fool because you can

Your goals are beyond compare
With flaming skills that are so rare
With volleys, lobs and chips of hooped glory
Your play is like a breath of spring
Your touch is soft like summer rain
And they cannot compete with you, Billy
Billy, Billy, Billy, Billy etc etc

Tune: I fought the law: The Clash vs Burnley

Breaking transfer records in the hot sun,
We fought the Laws and the Laws lost [x2]
Blades needed money 'cause they had none
We fought the Laws and the Laws lost [x2]

We signed Billy and it feels so good
Promotion race is on
He's the best striker we ever had
We fought the Laws and the Laws lost
We fought the Laws and the Laws lost
