I wish I'd switched over too, Dunc.

For me, Glen Johnson would never play for England again.  Utter garbage all tournament.

I ended up watching the searing critique of colonial policy that is Carry On Up the Khyber.

This for me represented the true English qualities I found missing on the pitch - smut, campness and knob gags.

Dignity intact: Hart, Dawson, Warnock, Carrick.

Antidote unavailable until early August!

I wonder if it would be possible to pick a team of English Championship players, play a system that fits them into their best position, and beat that mismatched rabble who seem to have claimed a longer Summer break than we hoped for?

I agree, the players who can hold their heads high are the ones who never or hardly played, as it's easy for them to say 'eh not my fault'. The only regular who looked something like was Cashly and I hate everything he is. He is one of the very reasons why football is no longer a back page pastime.

As for Johnson, I actually rate him. You need to look at Terry more than any other on our defensive failings v Germany. Aside from his disruption off the pitch, he was continually woefully out of position. I would suggest Upson was too, however Terry is this so called leader of men, an experienced battle hardened type, a masterful centre half who reads the game so well. One that Mourinho and Ancelloti call 'my captain, my leader'. Johnson was caught out once or twice yes, but the number of times he was tear arsing round the pitch trying to cover the CH position was unreal.

What made Terry look like he couldn't read the game in this world cup and more importantly against the first decent team we come up against?

Truth is, we were lucky we were in such a weak group to enable us to go through. Had we been in any other group, I think we would have been out in the group stages.

We then have to look at Capello.

Terry piss poor, Rooney invisible, Gerrard played in too many different positions (Why does the manager not know the best position of his captain and one of our so called better players). Goalkeeper- clearly he got that wrong, as he's had to change it. The right side of midfield, he got wrong, again changes show he got it wrong. Heskey?????, cannot make an average mid prem teams first 11, yet he starts for England. Carragher- a player who has clearly struggled this year and getting to the end of his Liverpool career....he's then dragged out of retirement, like he's the saviour. Sorry Jamie, your better days have gone mate. Why did we take injured players.....no sense whatsoever.
Then we have the turmoil off the pitch, why?
