Can anyone recommend one that fits the following criteria?

*Decent opening hours
*Not a rip off
*Not full of meat heads
*Won't turn their nose up at a fuller figure!

Ta.

The Dome is decent, you get full use of facilities (Gym, Sauna, Swimming) for £32 per mth.

The dome really is your best bet. Mine is £23 a month, which includes swimming.

Think they are open at 6am (not that I ever get up that early) and think they close at 10pm.

Just been refurbed too and now have very modern and expensive equipment.

And you collect loyalty points everytime you go and make a payment which allows you to play squash, free drinks and food etc.

I saved 3000 points and got 4 tickets for Jason Manford on Friday. Cracking night for free!

I think it all depends where you live.

For example, I live over the bridge and used to go to the Dome. I have to say the size, facilities, swimming, sauna (esp mens day......hmmmmm didn't know about that) and everything about it is fantastic.

The downside was that I could add 60-80mins onto my Gym time by simply trying to get there and back.

The North side of town is cryng out for more gyms. I'm at Adwick and that's really good, with free swimming, and by far the best of the municipal gyms. Not much on the free weights, but some excellent cardio, and other than early evening you can nearly have the gym to yourself. Excellent value for money, and more importantly i'm there in 3 mins.

Save yourself some money and take up running! I used to go to the gym 3-4 times a week and saw very little difference in my overall fitness, took up running just over a year ago and have since lost over 2 stone and got a hell of a lot fitter. I now go to the gym maybe twice a month when I'm in the mood and will definitely be cancelling when my contract is up.

This would be my first choice but I've started and given up so many times. I was hoping I'd be more inclined to do something if I was actually paying for it!

Adwick looks the best option for me I think, several other peeps have mentioned it and its only two minutes from home.

An altogether cheaper option would be to cut down on cider and curry

Agree with the sentiment entirely, but running isn't for everyone and can lead to knee and back problems if you're not careful.

Exercise bikes are better IMO as there is no impact which reduces the risk of injury. I have a TV and DVD player in the garage to keep me entertained as any prolonged exercise becomes as boring as hell after a while
