Bristol City injury problems

Seems like we're not the only side with a lengthy injured list. Just a thought- maybe the old-school \"run up and down hills till you're sick\" mode of pre-season training had something to recommend it?

Steve Coppell has said it is the worst injury crisis in his managerial crisis and it gets worse by the day. Loan striker Sam Vokes from Wolves lasted just 13 minutes against Millwall on Saturday, before suffering a serious hamstring injury which will keep him out for between 6-8 weeks. Last season's top scorer Nicky Maynard has also had bad news with him undergoing knee surgery which could keep him out until December if early reports are true. Last night's Carling Cup clash against Southend also saw another injury with Cole Skuse coming off at half time due to a hamstring injury and it is not known yet if he will be back for the weekend trip to Doncaster. There has been a lot of quiet regarding Lewin Nyatanga's injury against Blackpool which also doesn't look good.

However it is not all bad news as Louis Carey and Christian Ribiero were expected to return to training this week following heel and back injuries respectively. Striker Danny Haynes is also not far off a return to training and should be back in contention in about 3 weeks if not a bit earlier. New signing Kalifa Cisse should also be back by the end of the month. I also don't think personally that Nicky Hunt is fully fit and may still be strugling with the knock he took in the friendly against Blackpool.  The main blow will be the extended lay off for Maynard with City struggling to make an impact upfront in both of the opening games with both opposing keepers rarely tested. Dave Kitson has been regularly mentioned with a switch to City and Sky Sports have reported today that City have put a bid in for Wycombe's Matt Phillips

Nooo. Not with his scoring record against us. Plus I'm sure Copps will remember the dirty git nearly cutting him in half and, putting him out for a lengthy spell.
