Sat Navs
« on September 22, 2010, 06:54:28 pm by mushRTID »
Can anyone recommend a decent sat nav with speed camera alert? There are so many to choose from.

I have an old LG one, it must be the worlds shittest sat nav to be fair.

Just want a decent one around £150 maybe £200 max.

I'm on my second Tom Tom. Quite good. It gets used daily and my first one died just over twelve months into its life but the newer ones are built differently so should last a bit longer.

I've also had a Garmin which would give your LG a run for its money!

I use the earlier version of this.
Drive everyday about 50,000 a year  Brilliant bit of kit  even wangled free camera updates and annual mapping updates for life of the unit although they are advertising 29.99 pa (£99 life I think)now for the camera updates

http://www.snooperuk.com/products/s1000_syrius/index.html

Have a look round at them they do some cheaper versions.
Don't know what they offer now but mine had a 2 year warrenty It went wrong about 18 months in posted it off Monday had a replacement unit Wednesday no problems since in total I've had it 41/2 to 5 years.
I think only available on the internet via official partners so look round whos offering what.

Just been looking round at them if you really want to splash out this one has Freeview Telly built in  :woohoo:

This is the firm I got mine from they are showing some models with free lifetime updates

I have a TomTom One IQ Routes which I use for work on a daily basis. Never let me down yet. Also connected to Mapshare on the TomTom desktop utility so I can download any updates other users have uploaded.

Jesus wept, where is your PRIDE?

Use a MAP! Or even better, memorise as much of the road network as you can and read road signs when you get lost.

It's part of being a man! It's about being in control. You cannot put your minds on auto and have some mellifluously toned bint telling you, \"In 300 yards, do exactly as I fcuking well tell you. I am in control. You do not need to think.\"

Christ up above, you'll be having an automated arse wiper next.

If you stick to speed limit you don't need speed camera alerts!

I used to think the same as BST.

I'd already done about 150,000 miles in two years slogging up and down the country before Satnavs came out.

Why would I need one when I've got my trusty box of maps that I'd spent about 300 quid accumulating over the years? I'd ask myself.

Then one year Santa got me one.

Now six years later and I firmly believe it's one of man's greatest inventions. It's right up there with the internal combustion engine, penicillin and Breville sandwich toaster.

Blah blah blah...try doing a delivery job without one. I work for DHL, we deliver all over the country. Impossible without one.

Try fooking turning up at a meeting 40 minutes late in the middle of Leeds cos I got lost!

And Kittyslass, dont pretend you dont get a little carried away on the motorway. Clear road, Oasis on full blast. You know what I mean.

Anyway, bought a tom tom off ebay. Was all set to get a Garmin until I read a reply on here.

Au contraire my judgemental friend. I was actually typing in that post on the iPhone whilst doing 90 up the M1. After that, I watched a porn flick on the phone to while away the boredom of the drive.

Having a computerised lass's voice telling me that I was approaching the motorway junction and I should pull off in 300 metres could have had unforeseen consequences.

No, I won't PRETEND that I don't get carried away on motorways, any more than I get carried away in built up areas. Speed limits are there for a reason and I ALWAYS stick to them, be it 20mph or 70mph, not only for my own safety, but also for the safety of other road users.
