Update on \"opinions please\".
« on October 22, 2010, 05:47:46 pm by DonnyBiz »
Asked about areas to live in Donny and moving back again not so long ago. Mrs. Biz has decided to have a few visits to Donny to see what she thinks. Tomorrow we will be at the Premier Inn, near the KM and then at the match. Anyone that knows us or wants to is welcome to come along and help me make the wife feel very welcome over a few beers. She's worried she'll not be able to make friends up there and will feel left out (tut). Anyway thanks for the help all of you from the last thread and this one  ;)

She'll be ok my missus is from Essex and as long as she don't mind everybody calling her a cockney to start with she'll be fine

We moved back to the village I was born and bred in ex mining community termed as one of the rough areas!.

She found it a bit hard going to start with missing her family and some of the local herberts gave her a bit of grief ( and me for that matter as I'd been away best part of 30 years)but it soon settled and the kids settled into school really well.

We moved up about 6 years ago and she says she wouldn't move back now (unless it was to one of those posh little Essex villages  :) )

So I can very safely say we won't be moving back to Barking and Dagenham (are you surprised   we went back visiting the other week........ jeez )

Unfortunatly our lass is not around at the weekend otherwise we would have tried to get there.

Believe me she will be fine!

Make sure you get a walk around the lakeside, and you'll see the new housing complex being built up near the Asda thats starting to take shape...just might clinch the deal!!!

Tell her Yorkshire folk are the salt of the earth, she`ll make friends no problem, might have to take a bit of ribbing over her accent, but that will soon pass

Tell her it's no problem.

My missus  (Reading-born via Italy) has been in South Yorks now for 18 years and has never once been beaten up. She's even started saying \"In't it?\"

Mine's a Manc , I brought her to the promised land some 4 years ago and she wouldn't dream of living anywhere else in the world.
I asked her and my 12 year old if they wanted to move back a couple of months ago.....they stared at me 'open-mouthed'and worried in case if I was being serious.
They both love it here, young'un loves her school, both involved in different clubs and picking up the accent and local l'argot faster than I could ever believe.....make the move she will love it here.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone on here for your kind words and reassurance. We had a great time; we beat the blades for a start, the hotel was great especially as it was next to the Cheswold   walked to the KM past the lake so the views and that helped. Went on to Frankie and Benny's after and then to the Vue. Drove to Cantley Sunday which also helped. It's not quite in the bag yet, but it's looking alot better than before  :)

I see you kept her away from Intake/Hyde Park/Balby/Edlo etc. Wise move.
