Watching people coming in to the shop today, I was struck by a few thoughts,
1,Does anyone in this country, in this day and age really think they are going to starve because they can't buy a loaf of bread?
2,Do any of said panic buyers even give a flicker of a thought for the poor sods who are in effect risking their lives in the big lorries to get said loaves of bread onto the shelves?
3, What is happening to the homeless in this dreadful weather? the thought of people being out in this makes me feel physically sick, once again we are so lucky.
why are people so greedy? I see on my local news tonight they ae saying petrol WILL last in the Anglia region if people curb the urge to panic buy.
My biggest pet hate of all is greed, I see it all the time in the shop. If my beef is on sale there are people who walk by without even stopping the rest of the year, but for those weeks when I have an offer they have to come and fill their boots completely. and I loathe it.
I don't think sales are good for my temprement, even tho I am very persuasive..As long as they don't want too much of course...lol

The worst offenders are the oap's. My missus went into the Co-Op today for a few bits and bobs and she thought that they were giving stuff away, the queues were the length of the shop at the checkouts. She said that all 10 checkouts were staffed (unusual) plus the fag kiosk was as well. So no moans about lack of staff.
She said that people were piling 6 or 7 loaves into their trolleys plus several 4 pint milk containers, also loads of veg and other stuff. She asked one woman if there was a nuclear war coming because if there was then she'd stock up too. THe woman just glared at her and turned her back.
Stupid people. This is in south Essex, we have got about a foot of snow and the road are clear, so what it's all about I don't know.
Looks like there'll be a lot of well fed birds about when the hoarded bread starts going mouldy!!

I cherish the thought of them all chewing on hard bread and slurping curdled milk through their dentures for the next few days...Selfish pigs.

I went to Morrisons yesterday (first time all week) and the car park was almost full, never seen it so bad, so didn't bother going in. Found out later from a mate that it was like hell in there, people almost coming to blows at the checkout. Wish I'd gone in now.
Bread-making machines are up there with SatNavs as possibly the pinnacle of human invention. Also, milkmen battle through any situation and mine didn't miss a single day all week.

My milkman turned up at 7.00pm Thursday evening said he'd been at it since 4 am and had about another hour to do and all he wanted to do was go home! it was about 5.oopm when he turned up Fri and Sat.
As far as bread is concerned we always have a packet of Bread mix in the cupboard for emergencys or for a change once in a while, add water knead, an hour or so later done.
The kids used to find it fascinating watching it rise etc

My milk got frozen on Thursday night and was sticking out of the bottle because I left early and got home late as normal. On Friday night the milkman actually made the run for Saturday and knocked on the door so the same wouldn't happen overnight, good lad. He has not missed a single days delivery either, brilliant service and perfect recycling, we all ought to do it instead of feeding Sainsburys, Tescos etc!
