I hate how he's injured in the first season and you can't sign him until January

just restarted my career as rovers, pre season went ok only defeat was 2-0 to chelsea won the other 3 and drew one, signed a couple of players in basso and wood that you guys recommended on here and so far they've been useful additions, basso on a free and ive got wood for 6months from Wba i also picked up Stern John for free and have Joe Mills on loan for a season, narrowly lost my first game late on 2-1 to Cardiff, a 2-1 win over Burton in the CC, defeat to Blades and ive just won 5-0 away at Scunthorpe hayter scoring 2 and setting up 3! had a stromer!

so an alright start to my new reign! :) UTR!

I signed some pretty decent players, many mentioned above, and I managed to get Dexter Blackstock (somehow) as well as Cristiano Zanetti. Still falls apart every time.

Van der Meyde, Stern John, Zanetti (unless he's just on free at the end of the first season)

Wouldn't even sign for me until I offered him about that much. Chris Smalling's a good loan signing, as mentioned earlier on here.

i tried healy aswell, rather pricey on the wage side of things, Sunderland keep offering him for a price i probably could afford but he wants silly wages!

Finished second season, finished 12th in the Premier League and somehow won the Carling Cup!

Mainly this in 2nd season

Code: [Select]

          Sharp   Keogh
Fleck
          Stock           Schelotto
                  Maduro
Mulgrew  Larsson  Troest  Naughton

             Smithies

but I rotated a lot so any of these could have played instead:
Coppinger
O'Connor
Jimenez
Hauger
Kladrubsky
Mouche
Lindgren
Dodo
Sanogo

I've since decided to switch to a basic 4-4-2/4-1-4-1 for 3rd season to be more solid as I conceded too many for my liking. That base formation served me well though for the first 2 years.

Haven't heard of half of these players. Will have to do a fair amount of scouting. Thanks! :-)

Currently in 2027/28 season, won the UEFA Cup last season, won the League Cup the season before.

Unfortunately, the Premier League has escaped me and the highest I've finished is 2nd.

Due to move into the 29,000 all seater Doncaster Stadium at the start of the 2029/30 season after a takeover from a German consortium. I have £135m worth of debt though...

I always seem to end up in quite a lot of debt, too. Perhaps I'm just bad luck for the team because none of your, I'm sure, excellent suggestions work on my team :-(

Update - 3rd season

Currently 6th in PL after 18 games. Defence is solid with only 14 goals conceded, Andre Bikey is a machine at CB. Got knocked out of the Europa League in the group stage though. :( Also the Keepmoat has been expanded to capacity 19981.

You must be good then :) finally put a decent run together, just 2 points adrift in 22nd.

GK
Adriano Basso - free
Luis Robles - Free
DEF
Jay Demerit - free
Bernard Mendy - free
Michael Ball - free
Steve Finnan - free

DO NOT SIGN ALL STRAIGHT AWAY IF YOUR DONCASTER! The wages will honestly cost you loads, you'd have to sell Stock and maybe Sharp to cover, but in my experiences they have been very good in this division and worth signing. I also recommend the loan markets, in particular, JET and Villa's Marc Albrighton.

Chris Wood - WBA - Loan
This lad scored 23 in 37 games for me. So many I spent millions bringing him back for the 2nd season.

As for tactics I just simply used a 4-4-2 and a 4-5-1 with all 5 on same line of midefield if that makes sense.

p.s Tom Bender of Colchester Utd you'll find is a v good youngster to sign in defence. Hopefully I've proven my knowledge of the game and what i do in my average spare time.....

First season I got these on loan:
- Chris Smalling (Man Yoo)
- John Guidetti (Man City)
- Luc Castaignos (Chelsea) (They bought him from Feyenoord in the game)
- John Fleck (Rangers)

These on free:
- Adriano Basso
- Jay DeMerit
- Jose Goncalves
- Anderson Silva
- Michael Ball

Sold:
- Lockwood (Watford) £100k
- Thomas (Carlisle) £10k
- Josh Payne (Bradford) Free

I changed my expectations to 'title challenge' and got more money. Spent £800k on Pablo Mouche from Boca to give me more quality up front.

Tip: Organise loads of friendlies against big sides at home in pre-season to make more money.

Scouting wise I have some more great signings

Inverness CT

Lee Cox, Adam Rooney and Shane Sutherland. You wont look back in the Championship. You'll be 10 points ahead  ;)

Personally I'd recommend selling Woods for 800k in first season. That cash will be very handy for boosting your wages OR January signings. Also if you need more time to improve your team, pick Brazil as a league then start your game in January 2009. Then play regular friendlies and sort up training programs and tactics, then start of season, you'll be ready to kick ass

tactics, play a 4-4-2 with wingers in attacking midfielders
a 4-4-2 diamond
Or 4-5-1

  How sad am I?

Well I spend every free moment on the game, simply as I've nothing better to do when I've no work to do or any plans
