It really is gutting when that happens. I got ages for us to come good, but then again we were picking up points at places like the Emirates. Took me ages to get a win though.

Make a few loan signings. Get Rosenior in (as I keep saying :P) and DeMerit (if neither have a club yet!). Strength in depth is key for a playoff push (as we found out in real life :-()

Well I'm getting towards the end of the 2022/23 season and I decided to let my players off the leash a bit and use the attack minded formation that got me out the championship. I'm locked in a 4-way battle for the title with about 8 games to go . I started the season on fire and had a little wobble round Xmas but hopefully I can win the league.

1 - Man City, P28 61pts
2 - Doncaster, P28 60pts
3 - Man Utd, P27 58pts
4 - Arsenal, P27 56pts
5 - Spurs, P27 54pts

I just had a frustrating 0-0 draw with Man Utd where I hit the woodwork 3 times. My run in is pretty good, quite a few teams around the bottom to play and I play Man City in the last game!

Got Napoli in the CL 2nd round.

I won't get to play it for a few days now though!

Exciting times to be a Rover ;-) maybe time to employ a hit and run mentality, if you get me. Remember goal difference can also equate to an extra point in races as tight as this. RITD :scarf:

Another restart and about the first game.

Got a decent squad this time round.

Brandy -4 year deal
Davenport -3 year deal
Matt Fry - Season long loan (west ham)
Fabio Borini - Season long loan (chelsea)
Daniel Paccheco - Season long loan (liverpool)

Whay do you think to the above then,i have a lot of expectation.

 you'll need luck. Get some good free agents in. If you get points docked you're buggered.

I find it much more enjoyable to be higher team (ie Arsenal/Chelsea) for the first season and hopefully win things to build up my reputation, then end of 1st season Rovers sack SOD when they are relegated and I take the job and start from league one.

I did always enjoy the climb into premiership in the FM's such as 07 and 08, when getting out of league one was bad enough...

In the playoff final against Bristol city, after beating Swansea 6-2 over the 2 legs in semi final.
Great start to season, was 1st until december then went slowly down but managed to scrape 6th.
Copps and Oster have had a shocker of a season for some reason, Sharp has been great though!

My game now tells me there's an error with the coding every time it comes to the team talk screens and I don't know how to get rid of it (obviously you click OK but I dunno how to stop it from happening)

Well i went out of the europa leauge in the group stage but it was still a fun journey, now into my 3rd season and still in the championship but had a massive relegation battle last season infact if it wasnt for my leauge cup medal i think i would have got sacked, lots of speculation but i managed to keep my job.

Just about to start and i sold Billy who has been very ineffective for me and i needed the cash to fund for wages (currently weighing up a move for Connor Doyle,a 20 year old striker for Derby who has lots of potential i reckon)

My squad looks decent.

Iain Turner

Cicinho
Albert Serran
Bas Smith (10k but decent)
Fabio Aurellio

Thomas Rosiscky
Julio Arca
Shaun Wright Phillips

Benjani
Dirk Kuyt
Jason Roberts

SUBS :
Ben Alnwick
Paul Parry
Waide Fairhurst (decent backup NOW)
Jonothan Greening
Noberto Solano
Dean Shiels
Simon Gillett.

The club expect me to attain a respectable leauge position and with my squad thats fair enough i suppose,i have 2m to spend but im not sure where i need to strengthen most ?
What do you think ?

Hmm.. interesting that you managed to get so many good players at a Championship club - well done for that :)

I'd say get in some defenders, and maybe another striker. Doyle turns into a good player, so I'd get him if possible.

14 games gone and sitting in 5th but not going to get carried away as i normally drop off in the second half of the season,Dirk Kuyt has got 11 goals in 10 games in the championship which is great and he leads Billy who is at west brom now.

I was mulling over making a move Doyle as he was worth 2m,i was under pressure to cut the wage bill so put a million on that so that the wages are ok,now in October and hes worth 3.5m and out of my price range so a target lost FOR NOW.
Maybe in the summer i might look at him again, still have 1.1m left to spend and im looking at investing in a couple of defenders.

Looks like your strike force is firing on all cylinders. Definitely get defenders in. Anything you're particularly keen on?

Well I got my first \"action\" in over a week last night and what a spell it was! I won my last 10 games to take the title with 90pts and 93 goals scored. Man U were second with 84 pts after Man City faded completely. My Champions League arch-enemy is Barcelona and they knocked me out in the quarters. I did win the FA Cup though, I had a very easy draw so got my reserves to get me to the final and then my first team beat Everton 4-2. The Spanish teams are unstopable in Europe so thats my next mountain to climb but I think I need a different tactic to do that. Another 1,600 seats are being added to Doncaster Stadium which should tip capacity just over 60k. This is certainly the most success I have had with Rovers since FM05!

Great stuff! Knew you could do it :-) Europe certainly is a difficult challenge though, even when I've taken charge of the bigger clubs. Good luck with that one :)

As for me I've had to uninstall the game due to it being unbelievably buggy, and I lost the disc, box etc, so I'm having to get another mailed to me :( no idea how long it'll take :(

Well it seems the more we struggle in real life the better I do! I lost 3 games in the whole calendar year of 2023 and carried on my good form to retain the title in 2023/24. Man Utd pushed me all the way and I won the league with 89 pts despite facing some serious fixture congestion due to reaching the League Cup semi's and my FA Cup 4th and 5th round games going to replays (in the end I had to send the kids out against Man City and was knocked out).

Europe was another fairytale - my Barcelona hoodoo ended when I smashed them 4-0 at home after losing 1-0 at the Nou Camp in the QF's. Despite hammering Napoli in the last few meetings I struggled past them 2-1 in the semis but strolled past Real Madrid 2-0 in the final despite having a man sent off on 55 minutes.

Will need to sign a couple of players in the summer as had to let a couple of ageing players go but good times!
