VSC Directors Meeting - 12th Feb Update
« on February 15, 2011, 05:15:37 pm by NathanDRFC »
The Directors and co-opted members of the VSC committee met on Saturday 12th February to discuss several key issues regarding the running of the VSC.

Over the past few months, it has come to our attention that there was a need to prepare and submit proper accounts for the FSA, and the need to have up to date rules and regulations that fit in with the new model proposed by the Supporters Direct organisation

The VSC had invited Jacqui Forster – the SD ‘s Legal & Constitutional Affairs Manager to the meeting to help us put the correct financial and membership rules in place, and we will aim to adopt the new rules at the AGM in August this year, subject to VSC members approval.

In order to facilitate this work, the following reorganisation took place – in line with our existing rules - to co-opt members to help with the workload of the VSC:

Martin O’Hara has become the Secretary of the VSC, and he will work with Jacqui on the new legislation / new rules and ensure we benefit from the experience of the Supporters Direct Organisation.

Steve Kendrick has become our Treasurer – to look after the financial accounts and work with Martin so they can together unravel the requests from the FSA regarding our accounts and our Co-operative status.

Rob Clark has become our Vice-Chairman to help me oversee the rather involved re-organisation and growth of the VSC.

Rob Williams has become our Website & Technical Manager. As you know, we have experienced a lot of problems with the VSC website, and we also want to use our member database to email our members on a regular basis. Rob has come on board to help us develop a more robust and reliable website and e-comms package. He and Nathan will look at the current problems and report back in the near future.

Nathan Batchelor has become our Sports & Community Engagement Manager. The VSC want to develop links with youth teams, and the local community to ensure we have a mutually beneficial relationship that can help each other to grow. Nathan has a vast amount of experience with his work with local clubs, and the Sheffield & Hallamshire CFA.

Barry Cunnington has become our Marketing Manager, and will work closely with Rob Clark and me, to look at how we raise our profile, develop the VSC brand, and how we ‘interact’ with DRFC Marketing to ensure our fans get the best possible experience from DRFC.

Glyn Wigley has become our Membership & Fund Raising Manager and will work with me and Steve and Rob Clark to see how we can grow the VSC membership.

It has also been pointed out that there is a growing need to look at links with commercial organisations to develop alliances where we can mutually promote products and services to enhance both parties.

As a result, we are looking for VSC members to help us with Commercial management, media liaison and to help with Marketing and PR opportunities.

If you feel you can help us in any of these areas, or you can help any of the new team, please contact me as they will need help over the coming months.

I trust you can see from all of the above, our resolve to move the VSC forward.

We have taken several weeks to work through a lot of proposals in order that we are able to respond to some pressing organisational and financial needs, but also to put in place a framework for future growth.

We welcome your thoughts and suggestions, and we would hope you can urge your friends to join, renew and pass on the need to grow the VSC.

We all look forward to hearing from you.
