Rovers Anthem! (please make me a sticky thread)

Hello all

Right, as some of you know, I'm in the process of making a Rovers anthem, I've made the music, Glyn Wigley has written the lyrics.

Anyway, if anyone is interested (even if you've told me before) let me know, and I can arrange to send you the version of the song with the guide vocals (a version just so we know how the lyrics are timed).

Hopefuly recording sessions should start within the next week or so

Would we be singing the whole thing on a matchday or just certain parts of it? And also how would you let the rest of the fans that aren't on this forum know about this? Liking the lyrics, by the way

With help from VSC and local radio stations (including radio sheffield) we should be able to get the song heard

Trax FM said they want to do a little news section on this

Keeping the thread alive!

We've got a total of around 5 singers so far!

I wrote it hoping that the 'RTID' chorus would be simple enough and catchy enough to get people singing it during the match - all it needs is for the drummer to accompany and away you go...and I'm sure no true Rovers fan would object to singing RTID..?

What I'm also hoping is that when (hopefully) the full version is played over the PA, that when prompted, the East/West/South Stands will do something (anything!) to make themselves heard. It just seemed to fit naturally with the music, and with any luck might breed a little bit of rivalry as to who makes the most noise.

Have you thought about how you might be able to do this as a brass band version? My old man plays in a local brass band, he's heard it and thinks it could be easily translated for that. You can't get more Yorkshire than a brass band!

Just a thought, let me know and perhaps PM me to discuss further.

Also, what about doing elements of the lyrics by a choir - that can be haunting and leave the chanting up to a group of fans.

If it takes off in the way we hope, then perhaps your Dad and his brass band might like to do a pre-match/half-time live version (with perhaps another tune or two) like the local pop bands are doing? It could be put to the Rovers...might have to volunteer their services for free, though, but if they're wanting to promote any concerts it'd help draw an audience...

I think a live brass band would go down well as entertainment.

2nd/3rd/4th verses take out sexist and insert Racist, Homophobic and Ageist or any 'ist'
