Hoping to move....

To America in a couple of years time but I don't have the foggiest about how I should go about it. I've searched through various forums and the general opinion is through marriage, aaargh!!! Has anyone got any advice they could give me about other potential ways of moving and also what processes I would need to go through because this is all very confusing. Many thanks guys.

Go onto the American Embassy website. They have several links and information on there. Be warned, it is a long and complicated process unless you have family living there already or are married to an American citizen.

I'm American and live in NY.  I've thought about moving there many times, and agree it isn't easy.  Unfortunately the company I work for doesn't have a presence outside of the US.  But you may want to try to get a job for an American company over there which may offer the possibility of relocation here, at some point.  If you're a student you may want to try the study abroad option to see if you like it over here.  Also, it may be easier to go to Canada and then visit the US from there.  I also know there are a few on here who live in the US and perhaps they could offer you more suggestions.

Barring that, you may even meet someone you actually may want to marry here.  Hey, we're not that bad!  ;-)

Don't believe the Mexican immigrants are the issue per se, it's mostly the illegal immigrants (who sadly must work the menial jobs for menial wages) and drug runners, which are the bigger issue.

I'm not too sure but I can recommend Sensodyne gentle whitening toothpaste.

Just make sure you run the nozzle under the tap when you've finished. You know how fussy women can be.

Ok I know this isn't the measure of the country as a whole, but from my time on a predominately American site I have come to the conclusion that Northern Americans are nice, normal fairly sane on the whole and unbiggoted... I know some lovely people from the NY area...

Best in the whole of the states are in Oklahoma, My aunt married an Oke GI, one of the very best, dearest men I have ever met. Was a fireman in the oil fields, then with Tuttle fire department before retiring.. even now he works part time as a dispatcher with Tuttle sheriffs office. That's where I would go If I ever went to the states.

Why would you want to go to the US? The place is in a bad way and it's set to get much worse... And there's no football.

If you must go to North America, I'd consider Canada.
