Middlesbrough v Rovers
« on May 07, 2011, 07:19:04 am by RobTheRover »
So, here we are .  45 down and 1 to go.  Championship football assured by the slenderest of margins (although unbeknown to us at the time, and based on the table with one game to go, the point we got v Coventry on 8th March effectively made us safe (43pts in the bag, today Sheff U are on 42)).

I'm hoping for a winning finish.  Boro seem to be in good form, but we seem to be a bit more resilient at the back and have a bit more of a goal threat in Euell.

Heart says win, but head says 1-1 draw.

Think the early kick off will suit us more Mason and oster to run game with Mason scoring 25 yard rocket

Also Sullivan having a great game saving everything and people coming on afterwards saying that he's still got it

So in all close 1-0 rovers win

Wonder if that is SO'D's ethics on display leaving him in good nick before releasing him, of if he has plans to give him another contract???

Cheers Filo, all makes sense now! I joked when Brooker scored against Leicester that he'll probably need surgery afterwards!!

It's not our responsibility to pay for an op if we were just going to let him go. I think it shows that he's going to get another contract. Hopefully this op can sort it out once and for all.

Can´t see the risk of a years deal for him being worth it without some conditions attached, or hefty insurance policy deducted from his wages.

2-0, half the squad are in the operating theatre and the other half are already on the beach by the sounds of it!

As it stands at the moment, the last minute goal Hayter got against Coventry at home got us to 43 points and over the line

that goal costs us a few quid

Still, I have to think that we've had a great season given the injury nightmare in that we've stayed up again - how may Leeds fans (and many others) had us down after just the one season - a couple of new faces/loanees and a fit squad and we can have a respectable season with a few landmark victories in what will be a very hard league.

Well done Donny :scarf: :rtid:

Typical sloppy end to the match and the season.

Much to work on for next season. Much to forget about this one.

Brief summary gang.

We won the first half (as agreed by their fans on the walk back). (TCDG) Typically Conceded Donny Goal in that free kick.

2nd half was an exhibition match, that Boro won. Boro are much improved from our home game.

Oster was relentless for 90mins in his running and demanding the ball. Everything of ours went through him (notably back playing in the middle and a free role across the pitch). Head and shoulders above anyone for MoM.

Lita knows how to get a foul from the ref.

About 10 Boro invading the pitch and the stewards giving chase around the ground was the best entertaintment

Oster and Gillett played well, the others were already halfway to the beach.
Not much more to add really. Didn't really enjoy watching a game with nothing riding on it and the half time burger was as grim as the Boro landscape.
Based on todays efforts, I'd be surprised to see Euell and Thomas offered new deals. Kilgallon had a chance to shine too, and didn't.
SO'D gave everyone a wave again..and err..that was it.
