Would love this song to make a re-appearance but in a more vibrant version to really get the crowd going. :scarf:

There must be thousands of songs that could be used rather than the impossible dream. Its about as inspiring as the national anthem.

This topics been done on so many levels. Still Think Sweet Caroline with a karaoke version, where we can make our own lyrics up.

Not saying these are the best lyrics but something like:

Where it began, I can't begin to know when
But then I know it's growing strong
Oh, wasn't the spring, whooo
And spring became the summer
Who'd believe you'd come along

Goals, scoring goals, reaching out
Jumping up, Cheering you
Oh, sweet Doncaster
Good times never seem so good
Oh I've been inclined to believe it never would

And now I, I look at the night,
And it the game against Crewe
We filled it up with a few goals.
And when I hurt
Hurting runs off my shoulder
How can I hurt when watching you

Goals, scoring goals, reaching out
Jumping up, Cheering you
Oh, sweet Doncaster
Good times never seem so good
Oh I've been inclined to believe it never would

Ohhh, sweet Doncaster, good times never seem so good

I am not surprised that you don't recognise Lesley Garrett, a little too high brow? Wonder if JR would have a word with the lass, she seems to like cricket more but she is a Thorne girl, that would be quite a coup for the Keepmoat at some stage when she in't jetting all over the world as Yorkshires favourite diva.

Yes 'WILD ROVER' should be our anthem, easy lyrics invovling getting refused a pint in a pub, dead easy for the 'Knuckle heads' to remember

Every time we have this debate, Molly Malone or even Wild Rover get relegated to 2nd or 4rd choice. I reckon the voting is as rigged as the Eurovision Song contest !

Come on chaps, The Impossible Dream is just that, impossible to sing to and as inspiring as a bunch of mormons at a wedding party.

RTID is about the best song we've ever had done from scratch and fair play to the lads that put it together. But what started off as a deeper 'viking' theme song ended up more a like Aga Doo.

We all know what the anthem (not the run out song) should be.

Listen to who was being interviewed. I didn't think it Esther Rantzen singing you pillock.

It doesn't matter who is singing the impossible dream...............it is shite.

If you had the sense to listen properly Wellred then you would realise that Esther Rantzen would not talk about receiving \"Yorkshire grit\" whilst studying at the Royal College of Music! Never mind, wasted on you.

Unfortunately the impossible dream inspires me so much that I really wasn't interested in who the programme was about.

To be honest whether it involved Lesley Garret or anyone else I really can't be arsed when the same old crap about the impossible dream comes up.

My first reaction was to say I cannot understand why any member of this forum would have voted for it but then having seen some of the happy clapper posts from some people on here why should I be surprised.
