Sad but hardly a surprise really is it ?

She really should have gone to rehab instead of saying no no no

My mates have already cracked on with the jokes.

Such a wasted talent, and a waste of a life. But this finally proves the Blackpool ride \"Rita\" really is Queen of Speed.

:chair:

In all seriousness, 'tis a shame.

She knew what she was doing.  She knew the risks.  Sorry to sound cold about it, but the only surprise is she lasted as long as she did.

We'll soon hear no doubt from her dad Mitch about how the media are partly responsible for hounding her and how she struggled to cope with fame.

He'll probably announce it at the launch of his new Winehouse/Sinatra covers CD.

Cause of death yet unexplained. \"Hello, Is that William Hills?'  \"Can I have 100 pounds on Drugs please?'

P.S. My thoughts go out to Mitch, Blake and her dealer.

On a side note. Did anyone see the film about Lemmy last night on BBC4?

The man has done nothing but drink JD and stupid amounts of Speed and he seems pretty unaffected.

Can't say i'm surprised about Winehouse, still a shame though. She was talented. Just waiting for the cliched quotes of \"flawed genius\"...b*llocks

The trouble is, people who do drugs DON'T seem know the risks   because they always think they aren't going to be like that, no one takes drugs thinking that first time oh yippee I'm going to be a raddled mess and die bruised dirty and alone in squallid
conditions do they? Just one hit doesn't hurt, then volla it hurts to not have that hit. I find it so hard to condem because I know too many kids that have either come out the other side or are still in the grip..Good , stupid foolish kids that thought it can't hurt I'm not a junkie.

and looking beyond the well it's no suprise, then yes it is a terrible waste, 27 years old and so much raw tallent..

Absolutely. She didn't want to sort herself out and pressed the self destruct button a long time ago. No real surprise from me, nor sympathy.

Yes I did...Lemmy deserves the accolade of Legend.

I hate the 'They know what they are doing..they deserve all they get' brigade. As JucyBerry states above..they rarely do know the full consequences of their actions. Something more underlying must have been going on with Amy to be so dependant on drugs AND alcohol at the age of 21 / 22.

Cause of her death is as yet unexplained...but it wouldnt suprise me one bit if it was suicide.

Many have come through the other side having hit the Drugs / Booze much much harder including the aformentioned Lemmy, Iggy Pop, Ozzy Osbourne, David Bowie, Keith Richards and lots more besides. Amy was one of the unlucky ones.

No one has to take recreational drugs. You'd hope that most people would steer well clear in the first place to avoid getting in too deep.

My sympathy is reserved for Norway today. No-one there brought the situation on themselves.

Absolutely right about the path that led her there at such a tender age, but as for not understanding the consequences, thats utter rubbish.  She may have sang about not going into rehab, but she has been the market sector's best customer for the past half decade.  She knew, she ignored the advice and assistance and went back to her old ways.

Imo people like Amy and other addicts are ill. There is somthing in the brain that is not right. Yes she new what she was doing, and she also tried to sort herself out a few times but sliped back to her old ways. Thats what you need to change, your old ways, friends and to do all of that is very hard. I lost a very good friend to herion on christmas eve. Its her loved ones i feel for. Its them who have to pick up the peices.

I've done more drugs than Amy, her w**ker boyfriend and her dealer put togother.

Made of sterner stuff, weaklings should stay well clear of things they can't handle.

RIP

Addicts have by their very nature addictive personalities, be it if they are hooked on heroin, beer, fags or chocolate, only chocolate will take far longer to kill you, how many would say filthy junkie, tried rehab but just went back to it, whilst puffing on that cigarette that you keep on trying to quit? sometimes wanting to quit just isn't enough, no matter who, or what you have to live for.

I told Adam about it when he and ty came in, Ty heard the word drugs and said, what, my mummy? Can you imagine what it is like to be five and know what your mum is? I know the day will come when probably we do have to tell him she has overdosed, as I say, sometimes you can't quit, no matter who you have to live for.

A five year old knowing about drugs?

Winehouse got what was coming to her. No addiction is impossible to overcome. She chose the path she took. Tough shit.

Did i say it was?
I'd question the need for a five year to know about the pitfalls of drug addiction though.
I have seen people come back from the brink of various addictions, putting it behind them and getting on with their lives. Nothing is impossible. Winehouse had her chance.

His mother has been an addict all his life, It's why she isn't allowed to have him with her, not that she has anywhere to live at the moment, she is happily shacked up in a snow covered world of kettamine dust with her best friend. Pity more her son, not even five with all the skills needed to cut k for her and roll her joints, something thank god Ty has been spared from.

He knows that she loves him (a point that is very debateable but one that he doesn't need to face yet) and that he can't have sleepovers with mummy because she lives with naughty people who do bad thing and take drugs. I doubt for one moment he can name those drugs mind you but he has had years of seeing her erratic behaviour and the last time she actually had him for the day, when he was three she was raided by the drug squad. so yes, he knows things that a five year old shouldn't,  but he is safe and loved that is the most important thing.

Sometimes the addiction is far stonger than even the basic urge for survival.
