There's being a bit rough and then there's El-Hadji Diouf who is a complete scumbag. Do Rovers really really want a football player representing them with this much baggage?

- Three incidents of spitting at fans (including an 11 year old)
- Spat in the face of Arjan de Zeeuw
- One incident of a racist comment to a ballboy
- Multiple motoring offences
- Threatening to stab a teammate
- Taunting a player who'd just broken his leg
- Claims to be friends with Colonel Gaddafi
- Never turned up to pre-season at Blackburn

While there's no doubt that he'd be a good player at this level, do we want someone like this mixing with our squad just as confidence and team spirit may be starting to pick up? If this turns out to be true then I only hope that Deano, JR and co. know what they're dealing with.

He did only he was wearing his Rangers attire stil. Tried ro arrange his release. I imagine he thogt Man Utd or someone big would snap him up as he's that thick. Instead, Wigan and Doncaster contemplate a deal. Not so glamorous. Makes me laugh.

Worst thing is, he'l end up playing for some Arab team where he can do as he wishes, yet earn 6 times my annual salary in a week.

Daily Mail saying Blackpool tried t sign him at 14k a week and it fell through. Don't know what we'll be paying him.

Reading how all the \"in the knows\" are defending him I would guess there's truth in this, unfortunately.

All the \"in the knows\"?

I'd like to think everyone has their own opinions and can express them, thank you.

I dont know that this is a fact or a myth.  My view is that he would give us something we currently dont have, and on that basis, I'd be prepared to have him here on a short term deal (to prove his application is correct and his well documented history is behind him) if the money is right.

Moral dilemmas aside I just dont see that and dont think he's the player he was. Would rather keep Lalkovic for the season (ably backed up by Bennett) and spend the Diouf dosh on a long term replacement for Sulli or Naylor.

I think we need strengthening at the back and up top.  Our goals scored and goals conceded columns say all we need to know.  Conceding too many and not scoring enough.  Half that equation getting fixed will see slow progress still.

Putting aside his mistakes (we've all made them) he's a character and would certainly be interesting to watch and at the end of the day we want to entertain don't we?

Would he add to the side?  Yes undoubtedly.  Personally I think a goalkeeper is the top priority but Diouf clearly has ability and the opposition would hate to face him.  I think it's a bit of a no brainer and brings some start quality in really.

I fear where the money would come from but that's not really my decisions to worry about, the board know what they can and cannot afford.

But if he comes in, with Copps, Mason, Bennett, Barnes and Hayter all playing that position, you'd think it's curtains for someone?  They can't all play.

Agree on that last point. My money will be on Barnes moving on. For someone with his pedigree and out to impress on a short term contract I haven't been blown away.

Sorry guys I hit the sack last night not been feeling too good. I'm not 100% certain it is him but the things he says makes me beleive it is him. Arrogant and up his own arse so that to me is him all over. Also he did not say anything about being in talks with us or Wigan but when I scrolled down the page he did say something along the lines of \"To all who are asking it looks like i am staying in Lancashire\" so make of it what you want but my opinion is its him.

you all seem to forget that the transfer window is closed until january so we can sign only a very , very limited number of players.

that leaves loans and we are only allowed so many a season . plus will the ones that fit the bill come here and at what wages.

this would be a no brainer for me on a short contract with options to extend
and yes , i detest the excuse for humanity too

A crap disciplinary record. Plus an air of desperation and not a good message to the squad who have not had the opportunity to impress.

Rob, Steve etc., you're telling me you'd rather sign the scumbag now rather than give, Copps, Bennett, Lalkovic and Barnes a chance to show Saunders what they can do?

No we don`t, Woods and Brown are the only two at the club. We had Alnwick on loan and the other player was Liam Lawrence!

Absolute disgrace of a human being! Racist camel, and if he signs I wont be cheering or applauding!

We are only favourites to sign this guy over Wigan because he spat in De Zeeuw's face, a Wigan legend, I dont think the fans would take kindly to him!

Personally I'd give Lalkovich a chance above this fella(?), he aint hard at all, he's a cnut who I don't think would give half what Milan would.

This all seems a bit odd - doesnt seem at all like a Saunders type player i.e. giving it their all and fighting and earning their place in the team.

However, if he can get him fighting and working hard for the team then he would be a brilliant addition.

Sure, he's a top class t**t, but do you really think Oster and Woods are real angels?

Oh please, please not EHD.  I don't care how good he is.  I have detested this disgusting man since he first plied his trade in English football.  I would rather wait a tad longer and get a more decent human being with football skills to boot.  We may be in desperate times but for me, not that desperate!

Agreed that Lalkovic would bring more to the field the EHD. In my opinion I reckon once Lalko finds the back of the net, he will score more and more... Then obviously we'll probably lose him. I Would love to see him here on a permanent but that'll just be a pipe-dream.

Although we got Billy back on a permanant so you never know!!

I really struggle to understand some people on here i really do,maybe its just me..

Last year when Lee Hughes was looking like coming the majority on here where forgive and forget, give him a chance. That man killed someone and ran away leaving him to die..

Roll on to Diouf a player who spat a couple of times and is arrogant and its causeing 90% of people up in arms.Smacks of hyprocasy to me...

Theres no doubt he's a controversial character but as far as i know, nobody on here has met him,so we are quite happy to take these little tit bits from the press that are never sensationalised after all are they..??

This is Doncaster bloody Rovers,to compete at this level we have to take a risk with a waith and stray,we cant afford there quality if they are perfect, and they certainley wouldnt be considering us...

What people want on here is quality championship players with a great pedigree and attitude to come here for half the money they would get elsewhere, its not going to happen...

Time to take your pick ladies and gentleman,if you want safe players its safe league 1,if you fancy a gamble you never know what might happen???

Sign him up................

Skysports.com understands Rovers are favourites to secure Diouf's signature, with it their intention to have a deal wrapped up by the time they face Hull City on Tuesday.

I didn't want Hughes either, but I think it's wrong to compare the two like-for-like.

Hughes' was an off the field indiscretion, albeit a massive one and very high profile that he did the time for. We've had jailbirds before, Jimmy Kelly, Mickey Norbury (i think?), Jamie Lawrence, without an eyelid batted. Didn't Jimmy Kelly kick someone to death outside a nightclub? Far worse than Hughes crime but not as high profile.

I'm not aware that Hughes has ever given his managers a problem. Diouf is a classic arrogant overpaid footballer and who's to say he wouldn't steal his wages (that we can ill afford) until the end of the season before sodding off elsewhere?

If the boat is going to be pushed out it needs to be on another Billy Sharp, or a Mills/Shackell defender that is proven at Championship level or lost their way at Premiership level. Not Diouf.

Thats my point Keyser,Mills just went for 6 million and Shackell is now valued at 3m plus by Derby..Where is this majic boat were we can afford paying these sums..

Diouf is twice African player of the year and he is Free he could play for 18 months before covering the transfer fee for the players you want..

And who knows, maybe he is looking for a home, maybe he wants to be accepted,i despair with how quickly people will cast great options aside..

Whatever peoples opinions,i just hope that if by any chance he is in a red and white striped shirt that the fans GIVE HIM A CHANCE,if he doesn't take it ,fine give him grief..But at least give him that chance.!!!

Sums up nicely what concerns me. Less than an hour to go, is JR negotiating various bonuses to tempt him? I'm sure he'll want to tell the players about wages and bonuses he's managed to scam out of us. Don't fall for it John.

Get him signed up.  Don't care about his past.  You all seem to forget he won the spl with rangers last season.

We shouldn't even be in his radar.

I'm not asking for Matt Mills, I'm asking for the next Matt Mills. Good young players with Premiership pedigree ready to start playing first team football. There must be a dozen more of him hovering around the Premiership that have never made the step up to a first team place and had enough of reserve team football. Saunders must have plenty of contacts from his days at Villa, Newcastle, Blackburn, Liverpool etc to turn up some good players.

Of course I'll give him a chance if he comes, I'll never boo anyone in a hooped shirt, i'm just saying I think the wages could be distributed better, and in a relegation scrap we could well get burnt with this guy, as all the others have.
