Could be good IF he stays fit. Big if though. So do people think he should come straight in for the Leeds game or is that a bit unfair on Sulli? Personally I'd leave Sulli in until he slips up and then bring Kirkland in, maybe send Woods out on loan for a month to give him some games?

When fit and on form he is in the top 3 English keepers.

Is this confirmed or is it just journo talk? I know Radio Deedar say it's happening but last week according to them we were signing Lassana Diarra!

I saw Kirkland early in his career when he was playing for Coventry and thought he'd be England's No. 1 for years to come. I also recall a conversation with Peter Jones, the former top-flight ref., who said Kirkland was the best English goalie he'd seen. Then Kirkland moved to Liverpool and from then on seemed to suffer a succession of injuries. Assuming we sign him, Dr Death will have his hands full!

Doesn't bode well for him playing for the Rovers then

Now official - See DROS

Rovers would like to thank the Latics assistant manager and former Belle Vue striker Graeme Jones for his help with the transfer, and Wigan for their assistance with Kirkland's wages during his loan spell.

This could just be the best signing of the lot, in my opinion, a new keeper was the highest priority and to get someone of Kirklands class is absolutely brilliant, can't wait to see him flanked by Gillett and Bennett mind!

Any early comments from Cov fans that you might know?

He's a bit better than whadyacallhim at the Ricoh who's on loads of money!

Saw him a few times when I lived down there.

He was a very very good young keeper.  I dont know if the Lverpool move was the right one for him.

If we get him in anything like the Cov for then we are very lucky to have him.  Will be interesting to see if he gets injured or not on the hard KMS surface.

Great signing.
Someone said earlier to keep Sully in till he makes a slip-up, I like the bloke but he's a made a couple of errors already.

The bloke is a quality goal keeper! No two ways about it. Let's be honest, he's still in his prime at 30! Very good business if you ask me. A player we could not have even dreamed of a few years back. Well done DRFC

Sulli's already slipped up. The goal against Hull, and Peterborough's goal.

great signing if we sign him !

Yes to the post above asking should he go straight in team. DONT wait for a(nother) Sulli howler to justify dropping him as it may cost us 3 points
