3-1

RT @paulgoodwinDFP: Back underway and a third for Bradford. Tap in from close range after the ball was pulled back at the by-line. Not great defending. 3-1.

@paulgoodwinDFP: Syers on for Woods, and Hawley replaces Blake who still looks way short of fitness. More of a 4-4-2 now for #drfc, Cotterill wide left.3 min ago

@paulgoodwinDFP: Syers forces a full length save from keeper, blazes over from close range then Cotterill sees his shot saved from distance. Better.

@paulgoodwinDFP: 3-2. Kyle Bennett charges down the goalkeeper's clearance and taps into the empty net. Good reaction from Rovers since going 3-1 down.

@paulgoodwinDFP: 3-3. Bennett curls home a sublime free-kick from 20 yards. Morgan-Smith on for Coppinger, McCormick replaces Husband.

I saw Karl Hawley play a couple of times for Crawley Town towards the end of last season, he was on loan there for the second half of the season. He looked well past his best I'm afraid and this was against league two opposition.

It was nice to get home within 30 minutes of full time for a change.
A poor game though.
The two young female Rovers fans might have had the best idea.
They were so paralytic that I don't think that they could see the pitch. :silly:
It looks like being a very long hard season. :(

Don't know if anyone else noticed, but the player who scored the penalty for BPA today was Rob O'Brien from our Division 3 title winning squad.

He looked ok yesterday I thought, ran the channels very well, we don't have that kind of striker at the moment.

Some good and some bad.  The penalty they got was harsh IMO foul on O'Connor I thought, very similar to the one we got at Cleethorpes a hand ball that the defender could do nothing about.  Our first goal was a great move between Blake, Husband and Cotterill, good football that was.  Blake looked a bit unfit but very intelligent with the ball, he'll be a great player for us, very clever on the ball and technical.

Unsurprisingly we couldn't pass it that well the grass was rather long and even had grass cuttings all over it like a school pitch.  The amount of times we under hit a pass because of that was a bit silly, it hindered us a lot.

Biggest weakness was unsurprisingly at centre half given we had a young lad and a left back filling in, that's the position we need to strengthen.  You could also tell we weren't getting stuck in given we can't get any injuries.

As for the trialists, well the keeper could catch well but didn't make many saves really.  Morgan Smith for me did nothing, I can't see him being good enough but again he's not had the easiest of chances to grasp.  However, Jordan Ball when I'#ve seen him looks a better player than him.  Karl Hawley did well though and ran the channels very well causing problems, not sure he's a goalscorer though and we need one of those.

Best players for us were Bennett, Woods and Cotterill IMO.  Bennett was the MOTM all over the place, playing him in that hole has improved him from what I've seen as he can be less disciplined but he worked hard aswell and won the ball back a lot.  Took his goals well and his free kick was excellent, keeper had no chance.  Only grumble with Cotterill was with their second goal, he just stopped allowing their man in towards goal, do that in a league game he'll get slaughtered but apart from that he works very hard and has quality.

same old story 7goals conceded in just 3games against non league opposition defence again seems to be our problem.

For now, but keep the faith. Hopefully new faces in, the next 5 days are crucial. Defence and a goal scorer needed, a GK obviously but after last few seasons I fear this will be a neglected area once more.

... Hope I'm wrong though!

Newcastle lost 8-0 to Leyton Orient the other year in a friendly then pissed their way to the Championship title. Friendly results are an indication of nothing.
