Quiz question
« on August 27, 2012, 12:28:52 am by RedRover45 »
Sat here at work with obviously too much time on my hands, and thinking about Crawley's first visit to the Keepmoat yesterday so I've been working out just how many of the CURRENT 92 Football League clubs have actually played at the Keepmoat since it opened back in January 2007. I've counted league, cups and friendlies. So how many of the 92 do you reckon ?

There's also 3 current non-league teams have played there. Can anyone name all three ?

65.

Didn't we play Darlington at the Keepmoat in the JPT just after we moved in?

65 is closer but still not right. And yes, Darlington is one of the three.

Didn't we play Luton at the end of the 2006/07 season in League One as well?

EDIT: No we played Northampton, I got those two years mixed up I think.

No, you're right with Luton. I thought that was the hardest one to guess. Just one more left to guess ?

Looked it up and my memory didn't deceive me, it was our last home game just was the year after

I don't remember how we got on the week after that at Cheltenham though

I have found who the one left to get is by accident when I went looking through the fixtures to confirm my Luton guess, so I shall bow out and see if anyone else can remember the last one.

Darlington, Luton and Lincoln. Darlington in the Northern Semi Final of the JPT in January 2007 (2-0), Lincoln in August 2007 in the League Cup (4-1) and Luton in the last home game of the 2007/08 season (2-1) are the non-leagues.

The rest however
In the 2006/07 season there were 14.

Huddersfield
Bolton
Scunthorpe
Rotherham
Carlisle
Crewe
Swansea
Port Vale
Yeovil
Cheltenham
Bristol City
Millwall
Brentford
Northampton

In 2007/08 14 different team:

Bournemouth
Bradford
Walsall
Oldham
Leyton Orient
Tranmere
Brighton
Southend
Hartlepool
Bristol Rovers
Gillingham
Nottingham Forest
Leeds United
Swindon

In 2008/09 there was 21:

Cardiff City
Coventry
Charlton
Southampton
Sheffield United
Blackpool
Barnsley
Ipswich
Plymouth
Wolves
Burnley
Aston Villa
Norwich
Sheffield Wednesday
Derby
QPR
Birmingham
Reading
Watford
Preston
Crystal Palace

2009/10 a measly 6:
Tottenham
Middlesborough
Newcastle
WBA
Leciester
Peterborough

In 2010/11 only 3:

Accrington Stanley
Hull City
Portsmouth

In 2011/12 only 2:

West Ham
Notts County

This Season 3:

York
Bury
Crawley

Assuming my calculations are correct I make it 63 and 3 non-league teams.

Of the current 92 teams, only 29 haven't visited the Keepmoat before. Can anyone answer though apart from the Rovers, which other team (in the football league) has played at the KM the most?

Excellent attempt Mr Croft but you're a bit short. Have you forgotten our friendly opponents in your calculation ?

Im guessing either Forest or Barnsley for the other team thats played there most ?

I have not included friendlies no.

We have Manchester United, Manchester City in freindlies which makes 65, we have also played Bolton, Wolves and Newcastle in freindlies but all 3 have also played us in the league and or cup. But you have already said 65 is wrong.

As for teams visiting the Keepmoat, Nottingham Forest top it with 5 along with Bristol City. Freindlies not included on that one.

Doncaster Rovers  I like that.

Hmmm so the four Keepmoat debutants must be...Shrewsbury, Stevenage, MK Dons and...Brentford?

Almost Alias, We played Brentford in 2006-07 (I think it was 3-0 and was the 'party game' after the JPT win.

There is Colchester, and the 3 you mention, meaning only 22 have not played at the Keepmoat.

Arsenal
Chelsea
Liverpool
Everton
Blackburn
Stoke
Fulham
Sunderland
Wigan
Oxford
Exeter
Torquay
Morcambe
Fleetwood
Wycombe
Burton
Aldershot
Wimbledon
Rochdale
Dag & Red
Barnet
Chesterfield

And for the bonus questions, out of the above 22 teams who is the only one we've NEVER played before and which one of the other 21 is it the longest since we've played ? And don't forget friendlies this time :)

Total guess here and basing it on the assumption that they are now are new club I would have to say AFC Wimbledon?

The team that is the longest we have played is surely Chelsea?

I suppose technically speaking you could include Wimbledon but we played Wimbledon several times in the 70s/80s in their other guise. Try again.

And it's not Chelsea. We played them in a friendly at Belle Vue in 1984.

but AFC Wimbledon were founded in 2002, like I said it was a guess, this is rough history for me as I'm only a lad of 20 so anything before 1998 = History Books...

Give me half an hour  ;)

]Right then, the information I use doesn't encounter friendlies, I could be wrong but as mad as it sounds I can't for the life of my find us ever playing Fleetwood (ready to be shot down).

The last record I can find of us playing Stoke is 1960, but nothing in the 52 years between.
