Just had another chat with Shaun Lockwood....
« on August 29, 2012, 02:57:54 pm by RobTheRover »
Summary points....

They will look into the lights being out on the east side of the stadium with Julie from the SMC. Suspect it's a dodgy controller on a column.

The club was delighted with the atmosphere last night and felt it was a big factor in the win.  Thanks go to the fans.

The stadium contract signing should be completed today,  with responsibility passing on Saturday.

Ticketing changes seemed to work last night. There were still a lot of walk-up fans but they preprinted the tickets in advance and the queues were a lot shorter than the Bury match.

"Pay on the gate" will be trialed at a future cup game,  probably an early round FA cup or JPT match.

The catering contracts are being prepared now and these will be sorted ASAP after the stadium becomes the Rovers place. Now that the season has kicked off the works though will have to be done in bite size chunks between games,  so we will see a steady stream of improvements rather than a big bang,  as planned. They are considering a "fast serve"  drinks queue possibly with pre-paid tokens. Also looking at doing more for STHs with discounts linked to the vouchers in the back of the STH book.

The bus service situation is advanced and they are hopeful it will all be in place for October at the latest.

One final thing...  Following the In Rovers We Trust feedback the club are hoping to work with the caterers to source a Rovers beer,  something unique to us.  They have asked us to help by coming up with a name for the beer,  so get your thinking caps on,  folks.

Has much as I like the Sir Francis one, how about 'A Golden Double' with a pic of Sir Francis and Sir James (Hayter) on the hand pump.

It's been done but I thought Zigga Zagga was a pretty good name.

How about "How Much?!!"  Does it matter as long as it's not £3.40 a pint  :woohoo:

Pint of Viking

... It's not for soft southern jessies.

There you go, a name and a strapline.

Edit: Some sources believe the word ‘ale’ comes directly from the Viking word ‘aul’, and, according to legend, Norse invaders downed substantial quantities of the heather brew to whip up their battle frenzy.

Belle Vue is a Belgian brewery . I lived there in my first stint during our Conference days and took a crate over to our Away game at Sutton United in the boot of the car as a gift gesture and it went in JR's boot . I think he must have given it to the players because we played like drunks and lost 3-1 . Newell was injured .. he had dropped his wallet on his foot .

" A pint of King Alick"

no ring to it but it would be a mark of respect.

I've had these suggested too.....

1) Rovers 11
2) VSC Special
3) 12th Man
4) Just the ticket
5) Golden Era

I like 12th Man.

all this talk about a name.
what about beer quality , what strength and which brewery brew it ?

from memory the carcroft brewery produced two or three special edition beers when rovers won promotion from the conference....and very good they were too
