Football league show

Good goal by Cotterill

And a good delivery for the goal

Anyone see the fracas in Preston Crawley game ?

Graham Westley didn't seem very happy after final whistle

James Baxondales goal was stunning, shame we couldn't have kept him for whatever reason.

I notice they have James Richardson of football Italia fame doing some of the commentary on the round up, he managed to mention Kiera Knightly in one of the games. He did the Rovers actually but he didn't get very long, what with it only being the likes of Doncaster.

James Richardson, now of the Guardian's Football Weekly Podcast.

Top quality entertainment twice a week.

I urge anyone who 'does' Podcasts, but hasn't heard this to check it out.

That was exactly what I thought when I saw his goal last night.

I also thought "be nice if we can entice him back if he keeps this form up throughout the season".

We had the ridiculous situation where he was well out of contract,Saunders was dithering about whether he'd be re-signing him, and he had to find a club to go to , or risk not having a team to play for this year.
Mental that we never re-signed him, I think the cleaning staff were on more money than him, so he wouldn't have blown the wages budget.

Can someone explain to me exactly why we should have kept Baxendale?
I must have missed all these terrific performances he put in. Or maybe it was on the basis of some pre season friendly against Askern?

Wellred I think it's because he's been putting in some good performances at Walsall (who are a team in league one, the same league as us you know!), we're short on players, he's only 20 and he would have been cheap. Other than that though there isn't really any reason why we should have kept him.

I am not sure whether you have noticed but a good number of posters on here were saying we shouldn't have let him go before the start of the season.
After coming on as a substitute at Walsall against us he looked very ordinary.
But then that is the only time I have seen him. Maybe some of those saying he has been putting in some good performances have seen more Walsall games than me!
He has started 2 games!!

Ask us this question in two years time. Then consider how much it would have cost us to retain him. Local talent, young , future star. All the things which the management say we're going to be developing.
Q.E.D.

On that basis we should never let any of the youngsters go.
Local talent...........totally irrelevant
Young..................totally irrelevant
future star............and you know this how exactly?

Good piece on SO'D too, talking about putting processes in place and the result not being the be-all and end-all. Forest fans seem to like him too.

Easy to say the performance is more important than the result when you're winning though. I imagine, if they go through a bad patch, the fans will turn on him somewhat quickly because he won't change. When he's winning, he gets praised for sticking to his principles. When he's losing, he's being stubborn and doesn't have a plan B. Such is football.

It's a football forum, not a GCSE.
