half time penalty thing

just wondering does anyone know how the people are chosen, the only reason i ask is just before the start of the game i see two chaps on half way line presenting the ball to the referee and they were announced as the match ball sponsors for tonight's game, then at half time i see the same two chaps taking the penalty's (one of them scored won a £100) just wondering if that how your chosen you have to sponsor something at the club.
