Based on the information contained in that link, what is their role in the death of this woman?

She was the "victim" of a hoax call. The article doesn't state how she died.

True , but too much of a coincidence , it'll be there prank call that's drove her to take her own life.... i'll be very surprised if not, very sad.

I'd refer anyone looking to identify the causes of a suicide to this:

http://www.samaritans.org/media-centre/media-guidelines/reporting-suicide-tips-journalists

Points 2 and 8 in particular.

However, I am in little doubt these two DJs will now be hounded out of their jobs.

I agree on points 2 and 8 , it'll be the after effect's of their prank call that swayed her to end it all.
E.G. journalists and work mates making her life hell.

I think it's very sad that we live in a society that puts the Royal family on such a pedestal that a nurse has felt the need to take her own life after such a trivial incident.

Not sure I agree with the experts here though. For example:

I think the death of a loved one, can cause somebody to take their own life. It might take a while as they slip further and further into a depression, but had it not been for that one factor, they may still be around.

Again, there are similarities into the break up of a relationship. Yes, their relationship may have been unstable to get to the point of separation, but that person may have been happy in living life in an unstable relationship. It was the final 'no relationship at all' that may drive a person to throw a seven.

A sudden loss of all ones monies and assets is another common cause for throwing the towel in.

As for the poor dear in this example,  I'm sure if she hadn't have divulged information to a spoof Aussie Queen about the most popular and loved couple in the world, then my money is on her still being around..................although I don't know her private life in fairness

I would think that being the subject of comments in every newspaper and every news programme would be hard for any one unused to it to cope with.. Add to that the fact that it went global Then throw into the mix that inadvertantly she was duped into breaking the first rule  of patient confidentially and I can understand she must have felt like crap. Not everyone is mentally tough enough to shrug things off.

If the press had got a sniff of her name they will have made her life hell, we all know that.. It's hardly William and Catherine's fault that two simpletons thought it would be a laugh and got lucky.. I would think that they feel totally heart sick about what has happened.

I think it's shocking how these DJs will now be crucified for this. How often do practical jokes happen? They are unlucky she has gone and done this.

Anyone could have taken the call, I bet there's not many that would have ended it.

When I worked on the phones, prank calls happened daily. Who is to know there weren't other underlying reasons for this "suicide".

Ithink your quote 'they are unlucky she has gone and done this' she is the unlucky one to receive a call from these idiots and to feel so bad about how she was set up that she ends her life.
The dj's deserve to be crucified

Practical jokes happen every day. I'm guessing 99.9% of them don't end in suicide.

Like I said, I think there are other reasons behind this. She wasn't even the one who gave any details out.

A friend of mine had Peter Jones' mobile number and used to ring him at 3am pitching business ideas to him. He hasn't topped himself yet.

That's what comes of irresponsibly playing 'pranks' on people you don't know.

Sarcasm used to be the lowest form of wit until 'prank' phone calls were invented. Does anybody actually find them funny apart from the 'witty' people that make them?

Frosty

Did you end up splashed on the front pages of the tabloids and ridiculed all over the Internet when you got them spoof calls.

It's not about the spoof call in itself. It's about the attention that it led to. The pair of DJs came across on the TV while they were having their 15 mins of fame as the sort of toss pots who would never stop to think of the consequences of their prank. It was obvious to anyone with an adult IQ (which excludes half of Australia I guess) that the person pranked would be an object of ridicule for being so stupid as to fall for it. It's not malicious, but it is nastily careless (as in not stopping for a moment to think that their clever-clever fun is predicated on someone effectively being bullied).

It wasn't even particularly f**king funny.

It's ok chaps. Living in a world today, as we are, where 'innocent until proven guilty' has totally lost its meaning, means that accusations can plainly be taken as proof of guilt. You're guilty. Simples.

Auusie journos, you're guilty 'cos some fine upright folk on here say you are.

No legal accusations from me. There's no legal case to answer. But it's an open and shut case that they are a pair of purile w**k stains with a quality of humour like Nick Hancock. With all the humour removed.

They have been trying to make other w**k stains laugh. And in doing so, they have thrust what appears to be a perfectly decent, honest and trusting worker and mother into a global media maelstrom.

No need to try them. They have demonstrated that they are a pair of shites.

I'm confused about what actually happened  - was it the nurse in this tragedy who gave out the health information, or did she just pass the call on to another nurse who provided that information to the dj's?  As a nurse I can certainly feel for the one who did provide the  information to the dj's as it's a huge no no, and in the US you can face penalties which run the gamut from fines up to loss of job and prosecution for it.

So if the nurse who apparently committed suicide wasn't the one who provided the medical information, why would she kill herself?  I think there must have been other reasons, though apparently there had to be a connection, possibly the embarrassment of being taken in?

But whatever the reason it's a sad and senseless tragedy, and if it was indirectly caused by the irresponsible dj's, their sophomoric actions have ended up with tragic consequences, which are just immeasurable.

The nurse who took the phone call was the one who was named in the media yesterday. The one who gave out the information wasn't named as far as I'm aware.

There may be other circumstances, but this seems like a prima facie case for Occam's Razor here. The obvious explanation is overwhelmingly likely to be the actual one.

The management are to blame not the dj's. They have been totally remiss in their duties for not having a procedure in place for dealing with enquiries about Kate. I'll bet they gave her a right hard time afterwards as well.

Those of you blaming the dj's need to get a sense of humour and some perspective. Where were you yesterday after the prank call? I don't recall any of you being up in arms about it then.

There is an easy solution. Abolish the Royal Family. Sorted.

If the consequences of your foul joke are someone committing suicide - you need to get a better idea of what is humour and what is not. Although why am I not suprised that you find it funny.

I have never liked these so called prank programmes, personally I find nothing remotely funny about hoaxing people. I could never understand the appeal of Beadles about, these is a great deal of malice in these 'funny japes' dressed up as harmless fun.

Human beings are by nature sadistic creatures, scratch the surface and we haven't as a species evolved far from the baying crowd in the ampitheatre screaming for execution of the losing gladiator. I can think of few things as distasteful as listening to the taped chortles of the audience watching people hurting them selves on You've been framed...

Saying that, I can't help but having a fleeting sympathy with the d.j's, this stunt was passed by the stations legal department, probably suggested by the management..Can you even begin to imagine how they must feel today?

As for Mick doing his usual, how can a girl who has done nothing  but suffer the most horrible part of pregnancy be blamed? she too is a victim of this purile joke.
Two minuets of 'hilarity' has ruined two lives, tainted a young couples joy and most important of all destroyed the life of a totally innocent woman who did nothing but answer the wrong phone call.

That's because trolling is the written form of prank phone calls. Of course he think's it's funny, he thinks he's good at it.

Of course it was funny. Get a life all you sanctimonious so and so's. Kate is partly to blame. It's the first time I've ever heard of anyone going into hospital just because of a bit of morning sickness. One rule for the Royals and another for the plebs.
