Lee Young-Pyo is looking for football whilst Vancouver Whitecaps season finished

The 35 year old could well be looking for a loan move whilst the MLS season is finished, Barnsley (need new faces in team), Swindon (after releasing Bessone), Doncaster Rovers and Portsmouth

The player is at the age where he wants football and not neccessarily money so more teams may become interested.

Didnt DS mention a striker ?

Colchester are looking at an experienced forward to join on loan with players like Michael Chopra (Ipswich Town), Bradley Wright Phillips (Charlton), Rob Earnshaw (unattached) and Chris Iwelumo (Watford) being mentioned. Also although Jabo Ibehre turned down a contract at The U's a renewed offer is set to be tabled..

Strong rumours linking Doncaster with Jay Bothroyd
. Lets hope Bothroyd isn't the potential signing. He'll have 1 good game out of 10. Lazy, selfish, Mardy are just a few if the things about JB. He's on loan at the owls and done nothing there, fingers crossed its not him for DRFC sake.

These all look like absolute b*llocks from the football rumours website, however if we sign Chris Iwelumo then all hope is truly lost.

Would n`t the player have to sign by mid day to be eligible to play today?

Exactly the same things that have been said about Leon Clarke and David Mcgoldrick.......like them Bothroyd would be a fantastic signing at this level.

18 in 38 last season. Would be nice. Hope we get someone who's a goal scorer not another striker who can't score like Paynter.

7 in 20 league games this season. On this rate he will end up with 15 league goals by end of season. Billy Sharp aside, who was last Rovers player to score 15 league goals in a season?

Our front men have been great this season. Hume, Brown and Billy graft their knackers off week in week out. We don't create much from open play you know so have little to work with. When was the last time we scored from something other than a set piece?

No it was Greg Blundell with 18 in 2003-4; Heffs highest tally of league goals in a season was only 11

So, Billy Paynter will be Rovers' highest league goalscorer in a decade aside from the truly remarkable Billy Sharp.

Can't believe we have been lumbered with crap Billy Paynter. Bloody rubbish waste of money. Typical Rovers throwing money down the drain.

Well there are 2 players who have got more than him so far this season - and as he will be missing the next 3 games do you still think he will be our top scorer?

Thanks DU, I did say it was a guess.

As I said in my post, at his current rate, which is a guide. All things being equal, he should actually be performing better in the second half than the first (regaining fitness after barely playing last season, becoming more familiar with his team mates, entire team gelling better) so this is a fairly conservative estimate I would say - based on his current scoring rate.

+1

Creativity for open play might improve with Copps & Cotts both on the pitch though. Also we haven't yet seen what Lee Fowler might bring.

A lot of our goals are from set pieces but the chances are being created that was evident at Sheff u, we just couldn't finish them.
Paynter was very good against Sheff u, but in my opinion he's been poor in previous games and he may have scored a decent amount of goals but that includes 3 or 4 pens.
