Oh well, Blades now 2 nil down.

But Brentford 1 up at Oldham - a point behind and a game in hand

Brentford now 2 up. Important goal from Hume

Even more important goal from Jones

Wow. Thoroughly enjoyed the commentary. Well Done Paul and Glenn, give yourself a pat on the back.

I think there could be a bright future for Glenn, a natural. Paul, well done mate, must be so difficult to commentate when you're a fan and getting so excited. Wonderful stuff !

Too right - they can't overtake us with that game in hand as things stand

Just caught up with this thread after being to the game..

Some observations - we were not lucky, it was a hard working win.  Overall, although Stevenage tried to play decent football, we matched them for effort (more in 2nd half) and in all honesty, 2-1 was an appropriate result.  1-1 would have been acceptable but we finished strongly.

Some of the points here:

Hume's first 1 on 1, should have scored but fired straight at the 'keeper.  in the 2nd half his 1 on 1 was at a very tight angle, and the keeper did well to parry the shot but there was no-one following up.

Bennett in and out of the game, looked a threat at times.

Brown seemed unlucky with some of the offside decisions, ie running from ahead of the defender.  For one, he was flagged offside even when he had put his arms up and made no effort to play the ball as he knew he was off, yet still the lino flagged.

Brown MoM IMHO, followed by Hume for effort.

Woods hardly had a shot to save, beaten by a super Cotteril-esque effort.

Keegan yet again put a shift in.  Not sure if he took a knock or if Flynn saw a different plan with Harper.  But, Barmby, Keegan was well in the game.  He misplaced a pass or two but he put himself about and made an effort.

Copps looked lively and dangerous, could have had a shot or two but that will come again soon.

Jones outstanding, leading from the back.

McCombe was the weakest link, I prefer Spurr at CB but with no Husband this wasn't an option.

In the warm up shooting practice, you could see Sinclair has class, should be dangerous when fit.

We deserved to win, just, hence 2-1 was fair.
