We would need to really screw up to finish 7th from here. Not impossible but pretty unlikely.

I would think our run in 2011 comes close, edge of play offs to 20th.

In prem Hull and Blackpool had terrible slides from top half to relegation.

If we collapse to the extent that we miss out on the play-offs at this stage, then we don't deserve to be in them. It would take some truly horrendous cock-ups for that to happen.

The season we sold Rufus Brevett always sticks in my mind.Up until we sold him,I thought we was 90% sure to atleast finish in the play-off.How wrong I was.

Your making out we are 20 points clear at the top,we are only a potential 7 points ahead of the 7th placed team who are outside the play offs which is Bournemouth so would say it wouldn't have to be a massive slip up from us really to miss out yet

Karl Robinson is the latest top be made available to talk to Blackpool about their managerial vacancy. Could be good for us if he gets it, they would then be in the throws of finding a new manager.

Last significant game on Feb 12th was against Crewe six years ago, if it is half as good as that one it will be well worth attending! I want a win for my birthday lads!

Drover, Billy

I could be wrong but I dont think the playoffs had been invented in 1991.  I dont remember being excited that even though we turned to cack at an alarming rate we might just be able to sneak into the season finale.

Edit : Ooops, they came in for the 87 season.  Just shows how bad we were that I wrote them completely out ofthe question.

MK Dons 1up on the Fowls at the moment. Is our away game at theirs scheduled for 4th round day or have I got my dates mixed up?

There you go. THAT's a collapse
http://www.statto.com/football/teams/doncaster-rovers/1990-1991/results

45 points from first 25 games. 20 from final 21.

I really thought we were going up when we arseholed Carlisle 4-0 in early Jan. I think that match was the featured one on YTV's Goals on Sunday an all if I remember right. Rufus scored from about 30 yards and we looked unstoppable.

Dunt really matter how far ahead of 7th place we are. Fact is, you rarely need more than 76-78 points to make the play offs. So as long as we get 24-26 points from the last 19 games, we're almost certainly in. And it's almost inconceivable that this squad could collapse as badly as the one did in 90/91 (which is what we'd have to do to finish outside the top six. This one is made of far stronger stuff, and we won't be having a fire sale to pay the debts like we did back then.

I'm hoping that MK Dons beat the fowls tonight to keep their schedule busy as a distraction to the league and they can get physically drained for the run up to the end of the season.

There`s a big flaw in that plan, our league match with MK falls on 4th round day, thus clogging our fixtures up

If it dig clash for that date then It would mean that they are playing (physically draining), whilst our team are resting.

it's all well and good saying teams usually only need 76 points for the play offs but would only need one team or even the 7th placed team to improve slightly and for our away form to drop to be easily caught and passed so still along way to go

Agreed. But there's just as much chance of one of the other sides dropping away.

If we get 78 points and don't make the play-offs, I'll buy you a gallon of ale to make up for the disappointment.

Plus if we lose out to the weather this week that'll be a fair while before we play again. what it will allow is the new manager at least a week's training before his first game.

Moderators!

Modddderrrratooooorssss!

Can we have some action here please?0

Sheffield Weds are an honest, fair club. There's no need for posters to be describing them as "pu". Even if they really ARE shit.

You're right Billy it was the featured game on goals on Sunday and Carlisle had an aging Eric Gates playing for them.
Still had his long hair so cue the "Wheres your caravan chant?" every time he went near the ball.
This was the season when we won first 5 games and Paul Chrichton did the amazing triple penalty save at Rochdale.
That game was one of the best I'd seen the Rovers play (admittedly this was only my 3rd season watching)
Happy days.
