Brian Flynn's confidence...
« on March 01, 2013, 02:53:28 pm by Red Rover »
Anybody else really taking to it?

Interviewer: Can you see it being a nervy game?

Flynn: Our nervy period is over. We're over that, we had it, its gone. We're on the right road

Interviewer: Everybody has one don't they?

Flynn: Yes thats right, we had it with plenty of time to spare.

Now, that kind of confidence can go either way, hopefully the players will take to the field with a puffed out chest and back it up!  :rtid:

We were the best team in the league before our last nervy spell

Worries me a little, wish at times he'd just say the standard things a manager should rather than play us up so much.

The prediction skills of some people surrounding the game of football are outclassed only by mystic meg....

And as for "Everybody has a nervy spell don't they..." for the love of god........

The last manager was dubbed "the Soundbite" for exactly that reason though.

Not that I disagree - it's cringey in a way the way he bangs on.

If this is what is said in public, ie to the press etc, just think what he is saying to the players themselves.  No manager or coach will ever tell his squad they are crap as demotivates.

A manager  must always give his players confidence, our ex manager said today about Wolves " we only need that one win to give them the belief and we will know what winning feels like".

Do you honestly think Saunders is going to go to a press conference and say " we don't have a hope, let's give them the points now".

In the same way, Briaan Flynn is telling his players and the rest of the world that thay ARE good enough to win the league, they still have to go out and prove him right. In the end, what happens is ultimately in the hands or feet of the players.

All managers are different. Flynn is a confident bloke but there's a big difference between "we're the best team in the league" which he's what he's saying, and "we're better than everyone else" which would be cringey. Nowt wrong with a bit of confidence, in fact it's just what we need, shows the team spirit is high.

It worries me a bit because he can do the opposition team's team talk for them spouting off like he does.
