Anyone bored yet

How can FIFA allow sides like San Marino and others to play in WCQ groups much longer.
It'd be better for SM and Faeroes etc to have a preliminary group to qualify for qualifiers, at least they'd have a chance of a decent result now and again.

I was saying that to my dad about 10 minutes ago.

It's bloody stupid and it embarrasses them before they even get a look in at a finals. Absolutely no chance of getting anywhere near the major tournaments while it's done like this.

That was a fair strike.

As they've said on here their football is never going to progress while they're just trying to defend for 90 minutes.

Nah would rather let our lass choose a channel.
Cricket starts in about 45 minutes.

Imagine what it feels like for these part timers to play at wembley in front of 60000+. Chance of a lifetime. I'd love to do it even if it became 'embarrassing'

I think the Sammarinese FA would be more than happy to keep getting thrashed, take the income from how ever many England/Germany/Netherlands fans visit for fixtures every year and then keep the money for themselves use the money to develop their game.

However, we did have the hilarity of the stadium announcer announcing that "Young Ashley" had scored.

I then expected some comment about "Uncle Fred" in a squeaky voice, but alas the moment was lost.

And they say there's no easy games in football. Good for the goal difference and good to get 8 goals I suppose but it's not entertaining.

Montenegro nicked a winner in Moldova. Got to win there now.

San Marino FA ‏@SanMarinoFA 1h
@ITVSport So stop being that rude and ignorant.

ITV getting told off by the San Marino FA on Twitter.

Itv sport get right on my tits with their bias towards the England team, they may believe that Susan Marino shouldn't play England because they are a. Small nation who gets walloped regularly.

It's not that long since teams like turkey were getting humped by similar scores either.

If they are an independent country (and they are) why not let them play in the qualifiers they deserve to be represented.

Worst thing for me is that there will be sides at the finals who couldn't beat Armthorpe Welfare, yet there's players like poor old Gareth Bale who'll never ply their trade on the second biggest stage.

I remember the headline " England 8 Turkey" the day after we beat them 8-0 away in a 1984 WCQ.

18 years later Turkey went on to reach the World cup semi finals in Japan/south korea , only to lose 1-0 to brazil.

Can't agree, we could form the socialist republic of south Cusworth and still beat them.

Exactly. It's not embarrassing at all. They get to tell their kids they played against Rooney, Pirlo, Iniesta etc. If they just lost to the Faroe Islands and that was it every 2 years there wouldn't be any point at all in them even existing!

Football is a global game for anyone and everyone. That should remain the case.
