I watched a programme on South American construction a few weeks ago. The shortcuts they take are unreal when comparing it to major builds in the UK and USA.
I went see Botafogo a decade or so back. They were in a temporary "stadium" where the stands consisted of rickety scaffolding that swayed like buggery as the fans bounced up and down. Of all the scary experiences in Rio that week (wife getting mugged, Chinese prof at the conference I was at being murdered on the steps of the conference hotel) that was the scariest.
