I was thinking exactly that. After reading Paul Goodwin's tweet last night,  "Dickov's popularity will soar if he pulls this one off"

I'm thinking Sharp, Matt Mills, one of the old boys etc only to read this mornings headline of "Rovers set to miss out on deal for next Ibrahimovic"

Thanks Paul.

When are people going to learn Paul Goodwin knows about as much as we do, so he has to peddle non stories to try and sell his newspaper

We're going to miss out on a player who ripped up the Eredivisie a year ago? What's the DFP headline going to be next week? "Rovers miss out as Rooney opts for Arsenal"?

Defended Paul Goodwin lots in the past but he's starting to annoy me. This news never in this world deserved the comment he put on twitter yesterday. He's getting boring.

Sadly packed in buying the Free Press when it shot up to 95p a go. Thought the coverage on Rovers was pretty good but not seen anything recently to regret my move.

... I find t's cheaper to nip to the shop with Mrs JD. Whilst she's getting a few bits, I stand and read the back of the FP.

I think it's a bit harsh - only doing his job.

I agree yorkshire, certainly had some useful information from following him on Twitter in the past, fair enough it doesn't always pan out (and admittedly this story was stretching it) but he's not doing anything different to any other journalist by speculating.

Paul Goodwin is only doing his job but the problem is he just isn't that good at it. At least when, say, Radio Sheffield get a scoop or something there's a least a chance it might be right, or useful to the fans in some way. The DFP seems to thrive on these utter non-stories. I often defend the local media on here as a lot of our fans have a chip on their shoulder about it for some reason but Goodwin's credibility as a journo is plunging towards MadMick levels. I'm struggling to remember the last time they actually broke a story.
