World Champions New Zealand at the Keepmoat.
« on July 14, 2013, 09:28:58 pm by newyankee »

Reigning World Champios of Rugby League, New Zealand will play a game against Cook Islands at the Keepmoat on October 20th, as a pre curser to the Rugby League World Cup.  The Iro brothers both formally of Wigan, Tony, head coach of the Kiwis and Kevin, head man of the Cook Islands team have arranged the game through their freind Carl Hall, CEO of the Dons.

Carl was part of the Dons teams which featured fellow Kiwis Terry Hermanson, Vila Matautia, Jimmy Leuleui and Dane O'Hara before he left for Bradford Bulls.  The hope is to fill the Keepmoat with Rugby League suppporters from all over the North.

Yup!
Just what we need: even more games (of any sport) on the pitch.
Overuse and another bad winter = we all know what happens!

Why oh why is it that the moaners are always the first to post on  threads like this. Personally , having taken the trouble to listen to Gavin's explanation of his plans for the stadium, I congratulate the club on once gain bringing a high profile event to Keepmoat. It' good for the community and for the club's coffers.

Very good news for the Keepmoat Stadium and Doncaster as a Town! Rugby League is a considerable amount better than Union as well (imo) :)

Can the people of doncaster, especially rovers/dons and belles fans get first dibs on tickets. Last thing we want is a load of hull/Leeds/Wigan etc fans filling it. Preventing the people of doncaster attending (whose tax money built and ran the stadium)

There will be no trouble getting tickets.
If this gets anywhere near capacaity I will be amazed.
Engalnd v France didn't sell out so I cant see NZ v Coook Islands being full.

On the other hand RL fans spent more per head on food and drink than anyone else visting the Etihad stadium for Magic weekend. So the more the merrier.

I suspect that has more to do with being able to have a beer in your seat whilst watching the game, Moses

I would suggest that they will be very happy with 6,000 and ecstatic if they get 8,000, but either will still create a good atmosphere, there are also many Kiwis living in this country who would love to see their National team.

If they are available to STH's please feel free to have mine :-)

And I wasn't moaning, I was merely pointing out what has already been on DROS. Overuse and a bad winter causes the pitch to be in the condition it was last season

 One final point Mrfrostsdad

I will shout this,  THE RUGBY LEAGUE SEASON ENDS IN SEPTEMDER, IT IS NOW A SUMMER SPORT. From October to February only the Rovers play on the pitch., and, from time to time, the Belles.

I for one think it is fantastic that th KM is used by high profile teams such as the all blacks.

but on the other hand it would be sad to see the pitch return to what it was like against county on the final home game of the season. I was shocked when i walked into the stadium to see nothing but sand and soil.

fingers crossed the winter is good to donny as no matter who plays on it or how often, itll rip up just as bad as before.

MAKE FOOTY A SUMMER SPORT!!!

anyone that went to belle vue to watch us play scunny that year will remember the ice cold conditions and concur.

Roverssam

good on yer for the support, but the All Blacks are Union, the Rugby League team are the Kiwis. Rather like Australia and the Kangaroos (league) and Wallabies (Union).

Oops, apologies for the mistake, either way im in support for the KM being used so long as we still have grass to play on come the winter.
