Nice one, let me know what it's like.At the moment we are looking at Hadrians Wall next year. To my surprise it starts right down the coast near Morecambe and go's up to Carlisle then across and then down to I think Sth Shields. It's along one.I'd highly recommend the Whitehaven-Sunderland one
You're right Chief. I just know it's not the dotted border line I once thought Hadrians Wall was. I just knew it came to each coast line well into Englands lands and not on the borders ie Bowness on one side and Wallsend on the other (the name is a clue really).Cheers for the update though, I'll be in touch next year if/when we do it. I thought it was over 200 miles though??
Always done it wallsend to bowness so it ends nicely rather than in a total sh*thole! Never been to Morecambe though! :Oi, careful! Just to forewarn you, Morecambe makes Wallsend look like the Cotswolds. Furthermore, technically you haven't done the coast to coast as Wallsend is 5 miles from the sea- you need to depart/arrive from Tynemouth. So in the style of Brian Clough, on taking over at Leeds " All them coast to coast medals, throw em in the bin you got em by cheating," East to West is supposedly more difficult as you have more headwinds.

On that bit of the walk I've been sprayed with 'water' by kids on bikes (thats what i believe & hope it was!), walked past Glue sniffers who offered me a sniff, been attacked by a dog and was victim of an attempted mugging (scared him off with my camping knife which was conveniently placed in my rucksack!). Lovely place! Having said that from Newcastle city centre onwards I haven't had any problems at all - far from it, pretty much everyone has been lovely! Would be tempted to start at the brewery just outside Newcastle next time (don't recall the name, but a lovely pint!).

I cycle along there about once a week, it takes you through Walker, David Roche country, which as you say is quite nasty. I've never had any problems on the bike but your stories of attempted muggings, burnt out cars etc are not uncommon from people doing the walk.

I thought it was over 200 miles though??I can assure you it's far less than 200 miles - I've done it in 4 days and lived! As I say its meant to be 78 miles but a bit longer as I always take a detour or 2 to find lunch/pub or the b&b we're booked into!
Although the seat had shades of brown and blood stains by the time I got home. After a few miles I started to look like this:
Way this is going we could form an off shoot Rovers Cycling Club. Red and white hooped jerseys anyone
