just had a great idea for the Club

Well i think so Anyway.

Why dont DRFC have a 'Dads can lift lads over the turnstyle game day'

Pick out a expecting low attending fixture at the KMS and let Dads in for full price while they can Get Their lads in for free.

For sure some Dads might turn up with a next door neighbours kid too,but if the food kiosks are set up correctly money saved on match tickets will be spent on scran for the bratts.

Why would anyone bring next door's kid if they don't get anything out of it themselves?

Can you leave them there after the game as well? I could bring next doors as if so. Be a shame to leave the girl at home n'all, could we open it up to the sugar n spice as well?

CAN SEE THE HEADLINE....

Doncaster Rovers today attracted their record home attendance.....

In other news police are trying to trace the parents of over 3000 children found abandoned in a local football stadium...

You'd struggle to lift kids over the turnstyles at the KMS

You could put them through like they do in the "Just Another Brick In The Wall" video.

It wasn't a bad idea mate, it's just the turnstiles are 8ft tall.

They do offer quid-a-kid quite regularly.

This thread has struck a chord with me as I remember when my Dad first started taking me to the Rovers that if you could lift your lad over the turnstile then the lad got in for nowt. Needless to say as I got a bit older my Dad was still trying to do it even when I was old enough to hold a pint pot!

I like the idea, Oslo, and I realise you were speaking metaphorically and not literally about lifting the kids over the turnstile.  As a bit of a gimmick, I think its a cracking idea, and a nod to football heritage of the 60s and 70s.

Since the Hillsborough disaster, every person has to be accounted for in the stadium so it wouldn't be allowed. I remember going to Preston in the late 80's and I asked the gateman if I could lift my young lad over the turn style and he said 'go on then' and when I lifted him over, played hell with me because he expected a four year old instead of an eight year old.
I once went to A Celtic game where the kids waited at the turnstyles for a 'carry over'  because it was allowed back in the day, these kids were taller than me with more beard than me.

Thats right, Jimmydee, but I think it could be achieved with, say, free entry for u12s to a certain match.  Still account for them with a click, but just market it as a "lift your kids over the turnstile" match

I love the idea in principal! Obviously metaphorical rather than literal - but it is a good un without a doubt! Nice theme to bring to the table BFYP?

But then height doesn't necessarily equal age. I have a friend in who's into her twenties but looks about 14 in terms of height.

Your old boy was a proper character that day, mate.  He ran right over to the centre spot waving the Billy Sharp shirt over his head, like some sort of medieval standard going into battle, with a huge grin on his face.
