He used to disappear about five minutes into the second half so I used to go and sit in the stand then. With the low roof and wooden seats and floorboards you could make a heck of a racket and it was good when Rovers were attacking the Town End in the second half. Needless to say, it was knocked down soon after the Bradford fire, although (unlike that stand at Valley Parade which I sat in a few times) I never noticed any paper etc under the floorboards. It was the old main stand from Bennetthorpe and was transported down the road to Belle Vue when Rovers moved there in 1922.
I remember sat in the town end stand as a kid we used to bang our feet against the wooded floor it made a great din. I remember one game in particular it was The FA Cup tie versus Penrith I think we won 4-1 & Alan Warboys collected ball on the halfway line & ran head down till he got to the edge of the area and put his curled shot into the top corner. Memory plays tricks but that's how I remember it

I don't think we played again after the Penrith game for about a month. It was bloody freezing that day.I used to love the Cowsheds. The noise when everyone stamped their feet. I may just be getting old and daft but I didn't think there were seats with backs (OP). I thought it was just long rows of wood to sit on.
Remember sneaking in We always went on Pop side, can still remember smell of ale at bar at back of stand Second half wait for old gadge to move and into cow shed

There was a bar at the back of the (old) Pop Stand? I only stood in late 80s version. Looks a massive terrace in photos but never heard talk of a proper bar there. Why did we move to Keepmoat? We should have just opened up Pop Side and that bar!
Yep, I was too young for beer, but I used to queue up with all the 'mesters' so I could get a Bovril.
Popside before and after. Very sad.
