After tonight's game it's clear....

It's going to be a long season and some loan signings to be made to strengthen the squad.
FACT:
1. Furman and Keegan can not play together, there too alike and don't offer any threat going forward.
2. A new striker is needed, if its to be Macheda again it needs to be sorted ASAP, Robinson offered f all, and based on I'm not being the No 1 striker he should be working his balls off to shows Dickov he's worth a run in the team.
3. A CH is needed and I know I'll get hammered but Jones is a liability against teams who have attacking/direct/quick players, as seen tonight.
4. Chris Brown deserves his pay, great performance and if a new striker comes in and clicks with him I'm sure the goals will come and keep DRFC in this league.

On another note I like the look of Duffy, seems great on the ball, maybe a bit lightweight however looks a great signing and sure with a season or two in the Championship will be a hell of a player

Duffy was the one positive for me tonight. Surprised De Val didn't come on when Furman was pulled. 20 minutes for De Val might have meant we got something out of the game.

I have to say that apart from possibly Bournemouth at home, that's the first time we've looked like a relegation side. In other games even when we've lost we've been able to take some positives from the game. Not much tonight, I'm afraid.

They may have had a decent game vs Leicester but for me they are too alike and in this league if they playweek in week out Rovers won't get much, Wellens and De Val are to come in and add gritt and skill to the team. Lee, what's your thoughts on Rob Jones in this league??

One thing I have noticed after seeing him for a few games is that whilst Duffy obviously has ability he is very similar to Bennett in the respect that he takes the wrong option far too often.
They both can dribble with the ball but often take on that one player too many.
They both don't know when to shoot or when to pass.

I can hope PD can coach him to be a better player but sometimes instinct is the thing that matters and so far Duffy's is questionable.

Having said that I thought he was one of our better players last night.
I would also say that a lot of the criticism of Robinson is unfair.
One player for me who could consider himself very lucky that Quinn was taken off last night was Furman. PD could and possible should have made 2 substitutions after 45 minutes.

Duffy was the only "positive" from that game last night, but I do accept his decision making needs to improve.

The big thing that stood out to me last night was our obvious lack of PACE throughout the team. Boro made us look painfully slow all over the pitch.

Looks like you are wrong on getting "hammered" ! Jones was fantastic last Season and whenever Teams sling it forward in the air he still does the business but as you say against passing Teams and those with pace he is susceptible (human after all I suppose)

He undoubtedly would die for the shirt but thats probably not what we need

Right wheres that hammer ?

Talking off pace.

What worried me and was blindingly obvious to the untrained japs eye of mine. Whenever their nippy black lads got the ball. They were mostly stood still with it for a few seconds to ascertain their options................here's a novel idea, why not get into them at that point or at least close them out and remove all the space. What we seemed to do is 1 and often 2 of our players would back off.............this then allows said nippy player to then start to carry the ball forward............we then back off more............said nippy player now breaks into full rapid stride..........we pepper our shorts..........said nippy player sails past us and all hell breaks loose.
