Awful player. I hope Dickov doesn't think he is a suitable replacement for Wellens. The guy makes one square ball then trotts off like he's just executed a Iniesta wonder pass! Slows down all our attacks too with his shit square passes

He will only be Wellens replacement if the club do not give PD the funds for a quality championship midfield player. It not about we get that will fit in to our budget, we have already got them.

Why isn't MDF getting a chance? So frustrating, today was the perfect opportunity for him to start with nothing to lose

He was never any good. He spent most of one season in the swimming pool at cannons walking up and down. Christ only knows what he is doing back, he wouldn't get in a NE counties side.

Finally some criticism for woods! Got sick of hearing the usual "he's been so unlucky with injuries but when fit he's a quality player" etc...
Never seen it myself. Someone made a very good comparison to one Sean Thornton on here the other week which was absolutely spot on, all he ever does is short sideways or backwood passes and CASUALLY trots off!! The only bit of quality i've ever seen from him came when he scored against us for Rotherham!

Now surely Dickov must realise why no one even the Scottish teams wanted him!

I feel about him today as I did 3 years ago. Over-rated and a liability. Could've been a very good player but showed it only fleetingly and is now completely benign in the midfield. God knows why he is here.

I'm not one for slagging players off because they all have far more footballing talent than me.

What I will say about Martin Woods is that he slows down the play far too much and that plays a huge part in our lack of tempo going forward.
Not a good performance by him today, but there weren't any that stood out for the right reasons today.

You know what? I like Woodsy and I think he could still be a good player for us. My take on it is that he's still nervy about taking that next knock that sidelines him for yonks.

Hence why he seems to almost shirk the challenges and plays the ball square or backwards at the first sign of pressure on him.

Unfortunately not what we need at this current moment in time but could still be an asset if our form picks up!

I think we need to see much more of Forrester now and if Wellens has gone it's gotta be time to try and get a little look at De Val.

All i can  think is that he can't be very good to miss out today, when you think Woods, Syers, Bennett, Cotterill are playing ahead of the new Dickov signing! Syers recalled, Bennett supposed to be of in January , Woods a mystery why he was given a contract even with the injured players, Cotterill been off form most of the season.

The problem with Woods is that he refuses to use his right foot.  Consequently, when the natural pass is a right footed one, he needs to take an extra one or two touches to get it onto his left foot.  At that point the move breaks down because the pass has gone backwards rather than forwards.

There are fantastic footballers out there who are similarly one footed eg Messi and Bale, but when you play in Central Midfield and can only use one foot, you are severely restricted.  Jack Wilshere has been moved out of Arsenal's central midfield, possibly for this reason?

Woods is only at the club to fill in and isn't a permanent solution.  We just need to sign better players!!

Did a very passable impression of the fairy that's been sat on my Xmas tree for the last three weeks. In fact, I had to make sure it was still there when I got home and wasn't decked out in red and white hoops jogging up and down the garden.

He always reminded me of a dressage horse trotting about, flicking his heels, tossing his mane about. Could be top drawer but rarely was.  Wound me up no end most of the time. Sounds like he still would.

Dressage horse is probably the single best description I've ever seen on here for Woods. Very accurate!

The fact he was re-signed by Dickov tells me that Paul has either zero money (thanks tb and dw), or he's as clueless as alistair cook.

PD signed Woods because he as a budget to work to. Martin fell with in that budget. Would he have signed him like others if this includes MDV if he had other funds. He had to priorities how the money was spent. Where did the money come from to sign Forrester.
So let's hope Richie still signs for us, if not we need a championship quality replacement, which we do not have in our squad at the moment.

Martin Woods hasn't signed for us though, he's on non-contract terms. Zero cost to the club apart from when he plays. Sorry if that doesn't fit with any particular persons agenda.

It still costs the club when he plays, by the way my agenda is to see my club be successful, play well and get results. It's not Martins fault he is picked to play so let's see what develops in January. When we might get exciting times getting to our unfulfilled aims.
