We'll said, the board need to support him, or no one could blame him if he resigned

But the 11 players HE put out today should have been far to strong for Stevenage. Was there anysort of game plan today?

Why do people think that it isn't part of the manager's job to keep players fit?

Our back four is not good enough for L1. That's a pretty big problem if you hope to win games.

I'd still give him more time to be honest. Lets judge him if he is given
backing in the transfer window and when his first choice players are fit.
Can we please stop the Saunders back nonsense. Now that WAS horrible football.

Why isn't it good enough for L1? The manager inherited a back four that was more than good enough, so why has it regressed under him?

because most of them are injured ?? and we have 2 youngster who had not played more than 5 competitive games in their career.

What lost the game wasn't so much the back four as the appalling "big boot" tactics that were meat and drink to Stevenage.

Get Flynn and Jones back in charge and we might start to play with some passion again.

Back to the original point I made.

Why are they injured? Is it not part of the manager's job to ensure players are fit enough to perform as often as possible to the best of their ability? That happened last season with a small squad. I don't buy mass injuries as an excuse. The difference between having a load of injuries and not is certainly not down to luck.

I do think Dickov got it wrong today.  During the first half it was patently clear that Chris Brown up front on his own was incredibly ineffective, and if the plan was for Syers to get close to him and support him/pick up the knockdowns then that just wasnt happening.

However, calling for Dickov's head is just ludicrous.  He will get it right, and our horrendous injury list has certainly damaged his options at this time.

What on earth could Dickov do about husband doing his shoulder in a collision, or mcCombe injury that he's had for years,
I've heard some stuff in my time but that is a belter

lets look at whos injured then-

Husband- damaged shoulder against Burnley
Robinson- injured against QPR
Jones- freak injury warming up
Keegan- training injury
Coppinger- training injury
Mccombe- always injured

so two injuries in training and the rest in games or long standing problems- hardly dickov's fault there. Add in players loans ending. He really has a tough job atm. Not making excuses for today's performance by any means but judge him at the end of the season not now.

Dickov was doing fine up to and including the Charlton game before the ref abandoned it. Then our season went t*ts up with injury and board disagreements etc.

I honestly think the board should have had the decency to come out when JR left to state intentions fully and stop a lot of the infighting amongst fans.  If SC was a no go fine, but tell us what they're going to do!

A lot of fans spend their last pennies watching this team and the most expensive time of year has just passed yet people have still turned out regardless today. Had it not been so cheap today it would have been a lot worse in attendance, no doubt

Sure its Dickov's job to motivate, however if the competition for places isn't there then many players are just going to turn up for a game and collect their wage. We all know there is people in the squad along for the ride and as a manager you can only pick what you think is the best team. If they don't play well you can only change 3 of the 11 doesn't stop 8 others playing bad so to speak.

Woods wouldn't have been signed had we not been desperate, but the love affair with certain players, by Dickov, has to stop. For me Brown doesn't deserve a place any more than Paynter and he's had far more chances than Paynter has. De Val has never been given a shot wherethe rest of the midfield have.

Lets see what the window brings, but the club have some very big issues to address and its not just personnel on the field!

Lets get some up to date info on injuries
Info from the board (27th Jan Owners meeting maybe too late for them to listen to fans)

I'l back Dickov for now, but its getting harder to support him!

I'm sorry but in the 35/36 year I've been going to watch the rovers today was  the first time I've ever seen  my dad walk out before the end of  game.  That includes the firestarter.  I'm sorry we need a new manager.  The buck stops with him.

I agree with you. When we had DS and MP injuries were down to an all time low. Yes, you can't avoid injuries during games, but even a lot of those stopped because fitness was so much better. This really needs to be looked at otherwise we will be relegated. A low budget and continuous injuries won't keep us in this league. And like you said Akinfenwa that is the manager's responsibility and I think people are forgetting that.

It's the responsibility of the manager to keep players fit, just like how it is their responsibility to make sure players don't do crap things on the pitch. I don't care how or why. That's how it is, if it wasn't then why bother with fitness training. I don't claim to know enough about how fitness training works and how it affects players' endurance to sustaining injuries during training or matches to explain individual injuries.

It's about the numbers. The difference between having many injuries and having few injuries simply cannot be down to luck, that is obvious. Some managers seem to be able to keep most of their players fit and some seem to have 'bad luck'. Why? I don't know, but they are doing something differently.

What on earth could Dickov do about husband doing his shoulder in a collision, or mcCombe injury that he's had for years,
I've heard some stuff in my time but that is a belter

So you think that simply stating two individual examples from a long list disproves a valid criticism of the manager's methods and gives you the right to laugh it off? Give me a break.

Agree on the hoofball, saw better passing under Saunders! We've got some good passers in that team why we feel the need to play it long all the time is beyond me. I think this is where PD is going wrong the players look as though they are in two minds in how to play. I think it was Copps who said they didn't have a strategy on how to play in an interview.

We should set out playing QUICK ON THE FLOOR passes and we would create a lot more chances for starters. We've got players who are comfortable on the ball.

4-4-2 doesn't work either too predictable

I don't think it's a matter of long/short passes, I think it's that we don't move it anywhere near quick enough. This is what frustrates me about Dickov - the build-up is far too slow and is so easy to defend against, because we give the opposition time to get organised behind the ball. So when we've got the ball we quickly look clueless with it because all of our options have been closed down.

As much as it pains me to say it, Westley's strategy for building attacks today was far better than how we've been playing under Dickov. They mixed it up with both short and long passes, but the key thing was that they moved it through the pitch quickly which allowed them to drag us all over the place once they got their quick/direct players on the ball.

I don't believe out of the injured players there is more than 2 that are Championship standard, we need at least 5 players to survive this season, come on empty your piggy banks.

How else would he have conducted himself though?

I bet he still can't believe he was given the job in the first place. No wonder he's keeping his head down!

PD is the man for the job. I was sat near the dug out today and when I heard and saw a SMALL NUMBER OF FANS vent their anger at him I despaired.PD shows passion and commitment in abundance and usually has the ability to turn things around. WE need to stick together and get behind the club we support. Goodness gracious we went UP with the last kick of the season a few months ago. Who says we won't stay up  with the last kick of this season. I am believer I'm a rovers die hard and very proud of that. Sunday morning it won't seem quite as bad as it does today. This I can say from nearly 50 years of supporting this little team. PD needs support, namely from the board and US. I do what if says on my shirt RTID. My badge is over my heart, where it will remain.

You should have been in the southern half of the West Stand, there were more than a SMALL NUMBER OF FANS calling for his head.

Dickov in! Politics in the boardroom out! We were doing ok until all the politics starting changing expectations of players & fans! I'm not going into any of the investment stuff that's been done to death and kept me off the board for the last few months, but it seems obvious to me that it has proved an enormous distraction for everyone and should stop immediately, focus on a relegation dogfight, and do what needs to be done to stay in the championship this season. Then we can look into the future and think again!
