Sheffield Half-Marathon cancelled

I don't know if anyone on here was planning to run in this.

The well-known phrase that involves "piss-up" and "brewery" comes to mind.  :suicide:

Ex-poster Carlos The Jackal was doing it...I'm looking forward to him venting his spleen on Twitter!

Apparently lack of water on the coarse was the reason given

Aye but the Runners have revolted and set off anyway (Tweet)

The Police tried to close the course and still they ran on and on !!!

The Water arrived and they are trying to ship it to the finish - The Winner has already finished

The roads have had to stay closed due to the Runners being out there

CHAOS says Look North

Listened to some of the reports on Radio Sheff sounded a right laugh first the starts delayed, then its cancelled, then the runners say up yours we're going

I think the organisers were worried that some of the runners might have ended up in a watery grave due to dehydration.

Seems the police advised runners not to run due to the lack of water and attempted to set up road blocks. They then decided to water down this advice and let them run anyway as this was deemed to be safer as the runners had set off anyway.

Look North should get good viewing figures later as I think there will be a real thirst for news about this event.

I did Lincoln 10k but heard about this on the radio. Sounds like a bit of a farce, to put it mildly!
