Confirmed relegation

Nevermind, we are still Rovers.

When did we expect a ref to not decide our fate

We didn't deserve to stay up when you lost so many games from winning positions .

We've not been relegated due to referees. We've been relegated because we only managed 44 points, and that wasn't good enough.

44 points is piss poor. That's nobodies fault but ours.

Gutted for you - gives me no pleasure at all to welcome you back to joining the Blades in League 1. Couldn't listen to that last ten minutes. Crap way to end a season.

A poor decision by the ref might of cost us today but when hubby hung a leg out he was asking for it. Not of that cost us our championship place though.

Looking back moments like the dreadful results at home to Millwall and Brum, the run we have been on lately, Tamas' fight, Sharp's and Wellens' sendings off, Ryan's outburst and attempts at selling the club, all the injuries to the centre halves, and the rain at Charlton have cost us our place in this league.

For me stick with Dickov for another year; I have enjoyed the type of football he is working to achieve and lets face it he knows the division inside out.

Up the Rovers.

I agree but you can't argue that some truly woeful refereeing decisions haven't contributed in a major way to our demise.
Today's was just the icing on the cake.

As usual, the naysayers are already out in force.

Say what you will, we had our fate sealed by a very poor refereeing decision today.

End of story.

Naysayers?

We've got 44 points, 2 away wins, 12 away goals, 39 goals in total and finished with 1 point from 21 and you're claiming we're down because of a referee?

You're entitled to your view, but you're kidding yourself in my opinion.

Commiserations chaps

Apologies for the state of our pitch in the game abandoned, those 3 points would have kept you up!

Good luck for next season and hope you come straight back up

You're right pib. How can anyone with a scintilla of intelligence blame our relegation on neutral referees? We played crap against Reading, Bolton and Birmingham; got a single point in our last 7 games; scored less than a goal a game and only Barnsley had a worse goal difference than us. Are referees responsible for all that? Now PDX_Rover might not like this but here goes: We are the authors of our own downfall. Nothing more, nothing less.

At the start of today we needed to match what Brum did. Irrespective of the previous 45 games, that non-penalty has done for us. Yes, the results have been shite since Leeds - and perhaps Dickov has to take the hit for that, but it was taken out of our hands today by a referee. Pure and simple.

We've had the shitty end of the stick all season, I have n't seen the penalty today yet, but just look back at recent games, Miete sending off at Millwall that was rescinded, the horrendous foul on Tamas leading up to Ipswich winning goal, that was a sending off all day long, 3 incidents in recent games that have had a huge bearing on our fate this season

You won't want to see today's latest offering - another shocking decision.

I think we could list a hundred reasons, quite literally, why we got relegated without referring once to Dickov. I'm not saying he is blameless, he has to take his proportion of the blame, but the mistakes he has made are not worthy of the sack.

If you spend the majority of away games camped inside your own box then you're likely to concede a large number of penalties (correct decisions or not). Why have Leicester had loads of penalties this season? It's because they're in the opponents box a lot, not because they get favourable decisions. We invited our own 'bad luck' by not being good enough and not being able to get a foothold in too many away games.

Nor were we good enough to earn the breathing space to allow for any bad decisions today. We got what we deserved. Blaming external influences is a massive cop out and deflects from our actual problems that are within our control.

Amen to that! We have far too many people on this site looking to blame referees' performances, rather than admitting that there have been far more errors committed by others to blame for our mediocre season. Of course we've had decisions go against us. Surprise, surprise. But what about the sitters our strikers have missed?; what about the errors committed by defenders which have led to the opposition scoring?; what about the wrong tactics adopted by the manager? Are you with me so far? Add all that lot up (and others) and the number mistakes committed by referees pale into insignificance.

Of course there are crap referees, (did any one see me referee in the 1960's?  :)), just as there are similar people in any walk of life. We are down because of our own failings and not due to a couple of bad refereeing decisions.

So which was the worst penalty decision of the game?
The one given for a clumsy attempt at a tackle from Husband or
The blatant handball in the first half from Neal?
