Anyone feel we need another striker? We've scored the second least goals in the league this season.

Would be a waste of money. Strikers don't score under our manager. Well, no player does.

Grateful as I am for a signing but I wonder why our rivals Sheffield united consider him surplus to requirements?

Big fall out with Cloughie, I understand.  Over what I don't know/can't remember.

Butler apparently wanted to join in summer, but couldn't get an offer due to the takeover business so meanwhile Sheff Utd came in for him.

the fall out was that becuase he was in the team for the 1st couple of games he didn't seem to think he needed to train that hard in the week and so didn't always turn up for training.

i'm rather underwhelmed

Didn't he play all the pre-season though, then not get picked for the league games?

Either way, their loss is our gain as I think he'll do well here, primarily because he wants to be here.

Experienced defender all right, but who to leave out is the issue.

I thought Jones should be close to fitness, unless he has had a setback. According to DFP at the time of his op, he was due to back end of the month ish;

I heard Butler was the last one picked in the 'pick teams' in training so took his ball home, meaning nobody else could play.

Ah Long Fo?

He's a Korean striker.

Cue the old joke my grandad used to tell.

We've just signed two Koreans. Wee Wun Won and Ah Long Sin.

Remember it well, Sam. Like a lot of sitcoms from that time (e.g. Till Death Us Do Part, Love Thy Neighbour, It Ain't Half Hot Mum etc) you'd never get away with some of the stuff they had in there now. The younger audience also would not appreciate such a thing as a "bus conductor." I don't think they've existed for 20-odd years, at least outside London.

I have been scouring YouTube for a clip of Blakey (a truly wonderful comic creation) actually saying his most famous line- "I hate you, Butler!" but without success. There's quite a few of the episodes on there though.

The line was "I,ll get you for this Butler" if I remember right.Thats maybe why you can't find it on YouTube.

Its regularly on ITV3.  My 8 year old daughter is a huge fan and went nuts when we were in Elstree last year and she found Reg Varney's star on the pavement

I always thought that Reg Varney's portrayal of Stan Butler showed glimpses of David Jason's Del Boy character. I wonder if DJ got his inspiration from him?

Reg Varney - first bloke to use a Hole in the Wall (mid 60s) for withdrawing money of course ! Or was it first to use one for a Transaction ?
Thought the big catch phrase of On the Buses was "Get that bus out Butler" followed by a long Blakey sneer/laugh

Wont be good if we Park the Bus and the oppos shout that out !

Evina and wabara can't cope getting forward and tracking back even with a midfielder to help them out...
It would be suicide to play them two as wingbacks, we would get over run down the flanks and with that system it's imperative you have a holding midfielder to cover both sides when required. Along with 3 centre halves

With Butler, and you know who keeping, the defence looks a whole lot better. Still question marks at left back but cause for a bit more optimism.
