Fixture congestion
« on November 08, 2014, 04:31:25 pm by glosterred »
With a couple of league games, a JPT game and now a FA cup game with the possibilities of a replay, there is a bit of congestion starting to appear. And with winter on its way, could get a bit hectic in the months to come. It is going to test the squad to the max - hopefully injuries will be kept to the minimum and the weather will not cause anymore problems.

Quite right to raise this,  gloster.

A bad winter on top of the backlog we are already amassing will end up with us having to play 3 times a week through March or something.

That is why I don't understand why we didn't want to play the Johnstones game this Wednesday. We have no game this week. But come January we'll probably have a big backlog.

Notts County Johstones' Paints game is now on 18th November ... DROS fixtures list has not been amended though they did post a news article ( now off site) . Notts County site confirms date as 18th Neil.

Notts County drew today, so JP trophy game would have been off due to their replay.

At the moment we only have one midweek fixture in Jan and Feb 2015.  However one of the saturdays is FA Cup round 3, assuming we get there.  There is the Notts Co league game to rearrange (assuming the JPT tie is on Dec 9), then perhaps a catch up JPT game if we beat County, perhaps FA Cup 3rd round replay, plus any weather postponements.

A good argument for strengthening in the January window.  My gut feeling is if we get to the FA Cup 3rd round and are still in the JPT, and hopefully in the top half of the league then we will need more players.

I bought my JPT ticket just 2 hours before this appeared on DROS , on Tuesday.

Aye. Last season, I'd fingered that problem as the reason why Charlton would go down.

And for that reason, this season, I'm out.

Aye, I remember.  It worked in their favour once they got in the groove.

Still don't like how the fixtures are done when we have sequences of 2 away games followed by two home games. As in recent seasons these are compounded by International breaks meaning we have gone long periods without seeing our team at home.

This season though is turning in to something exceptional. Approaching mid November we still have 16 home league games plus, at least 1 home Cup tie to play.

If the weather forecasts are anything to go by, after Christmas we could be very very busy at home.

Lest we forget many other clubs will suffer with the forecasted guessed weather over the next few months and therefore it'll be busy at both home AND away. PD will have no option but to dip into loans and what not.
