Help with new Cancer Campaign

Not a topic of conversation many like to have but well I work for NHS Doncaster CCG and in January we are starting to promote our latest Cancer campaign with the Rovers, this time focussing on Lung Cancer.

We have previously had campaigns to promote the awareness of Prostate Cancer and for the past few weeks and at the game against Sheffield United on Saturday we were promoting the awareness and symptoms of Bowel Cancer, having people scattered around the ground talking about the symptoms of Bowel Cancer and we also had a short video played at half time on the new Scoreboard which some of you may have seen!

The reason I raise it on here is that I was wondering if anyone was aware of any players that played for us at some point that have either had Lung Cancer themselves or have had some sort of awareness of the terrible illness that so many suffer with??

With the previous Bowel Cancer campaign, we also involved an avid fan who suffered with Bowel Cancer who's name I won't mention as I know he does read this forum and I would not want to embarrass him, but I had the pleasure of meeting him and sitting with him at the Sheff United match and I know he enjoyed the involvement with the campaign and also wonder if anyone would like to do the same for this Lung Cancer and I will see if it is possible to arrange to do a similar interview that he did and involvement with the campaign.

As this thread relates to cancer, I thought I would pass on my GOOD news. I was told yesterday that the Bladder cancer I told you about last year at this time, has finally been beaten and I am tumour and cancer cell free. Thanks for all your good wishes last year.

Sorry, I forgot to add, if you have ANY thoughts about hav ing simialr problems, no matter what, get checked. The sooner you are diagnosed and treated the better the outcome.

Congrats newyankee! I've also just had the all clear after 5 years in remission from the bowel jobby, and am officially 'A survivor'.

Can't agree more with your recommendation. We know our bodies better than anyone else, and if symptoms don't go in a short period of time, insist on being referred to a specialist, don't accept what your GP says and let them fob you off with medication!!

Let's drink to the good news (in moderation of course!)
