I saw the Meteors at Leeds Beerkeller in 1984.

Bad Manners a couple of times in the late 80s and around 2008...

Crikey.... That provokes a few memories....

I'm sorry. I can't limit this to one. There's been some stupendous gigs over the years so I'm afraid mine is a bit of a list....

Focus. Sheffield City Hall 1973 or 74. Jan Akkerman - what a stonkingly good guitarist!
The Who. Granby Halls, Leicester 1975 or 76 - with Keith Moon in person. An all time great night
Bruce Springsteen. Wembley. 1984? ('Born on the Run' tour anyway). Simply the best showman of them all.
Al Stewart. Colby Hall, Bristol. 1991? Music for the intelligentsia :)
Kraftwerk. Coventry Cathedral 1975 or 76. Weird, but kinda captivating
Wishbone Ash, everywhere. Everywhen. Still making a great sound even today

When I look back at the bands I've seen, I've been a lucky bloke I reckon. I missed out on seeing 10CC cos some shite stole my tickets and I never got to see Deep Purple or Led Zep, but beyond them, I've seen most.
Mud's Christmas concert. !974. Warwick university - chuffing brilliant!
Santana. Birmingham somewhere. 1976 or 77. Another great guitarist

And just for fun. the most disappointing bands have been:

Pink Floyd - twice! Nice music but absolutely crap shows. Even the 10/10 blonde bird I took to the first one turned out to be entirely empty from one ear to the other.
Rolling Stones - also twice. First time Earls Court about 6 weeks after The Who. They were rubbish in comparison. Second time Wembley sometime in the early 80's. Stuck in a time warp and really, really poor
Queen. Coventry theatre 1974 or 75. Utter garbage apart from Seven Seas of Rye.

Shit. I've just remembered the Police. That was a damn good night too. I only missed Sting by 1 year at uni :(

I better stop right now!

BobG

PS. Sorry..... Another edit. I can't say this is a proper list without adding Simple Minds to it. MK Bowl mid 80's sometime. Still like their music. Had a good ogle too at that tall dusky one from that girl band that sang 'Walk Like an Egyptian'. What were they called? She was hot.

And one of my all time fave totty: the ever stupendous Chrissy Hind and the Pretenders! Saw her at Sheffield City Hall and some dark ultra smoky dive in London too.

Guns n roses with faster pussycat just as appetite for destruction was released at notts Rock  city and Otis Gibbs wherever he plays. In fact we've just got him agree to play the Ukrainian club on Beckett rd at the end of July. He is truly the best singer/storyteller you will ever hear.

Stone Roses at Stratford on Avon Civic Centre in 1989, just before they broke through into the big time. About 250 people there but it was absolutely electric. You knew these were the biggest thing in the world.

Saw them again 6-7 years later in a crowd of 12,000 at Sheffield Arena. Shite.

You've missed a few out...White Stripes at Leadmill, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Beck at Rock City, Low at Queens Social, and a few Nick Cave gigs too

Ramones in Newcastle is probably one of my highlights though

For me the smallest gigs are the best I saw oasis at Loch Lomond in front of 40 odd thousand then a few years later at hull ice arena much better. And me and my mates went to Sheffield, a couple of us wanted to go see a new band that they heard was decent me and the rest wanted to go to flares and pull some birds the band they saw was Coldplay! I still maintain the flares lads made the best choice

Rolling Stones at Roundhay Park early 80's for me, followed by The Police at MK Bowl, and then Meatloaf at Birmingham NEC.

Another one I really enjoyed was Angelic Upstarts and Uncool Danceband at Sandall Park on August bank holiday in the early 80's

Used to know Phil Beer reasonably well Knockers! He went to Lanchester Poly and from there he knew well a girlfriend I had years later. So we kinda got to know each other - which was a bit odd as I'd started watching SoH less than 12 months after they started and they'd got used to seeing me around. I still see them 2 or 3 times a year. Cheltenham about 2 months back was the last one. He used to live in a farm in a village not far outside of Gloucester - Maisemore. SoH had a little festival there once an we got super priv tickets :) Had dinner with the pair of them before. Did you know Steve used to be an English teacher? Obvious when you know I suppose.

By the by, they played Auckley Village Hall (or it might have been Branton come to think of it) about 96 or 97 or so. Stonkingly hot summer evening. Heat stroke hot. I took my Mum and Dad. Lol. My Dad was a died in the wool classical music buff. Had no time for anything else. But he did confess afterwards that he'd 'quite enjoyed' them!

You been to any of the Albert Hall gigs?

A close 2nd was the chap who won stars in their eyes as Chris De Burgh performing in the Asda car park. Possibly for something like Children In Need. Obviously you tend to over glamorise details in your memory but I believe Samantha Mumba and A1 were also in the star-studded line-up.

Reverend and the Makers, Kasabian and Oasis@ Wembley. We had tickets for standing pitch side, pissed down all afternoon/night. Brilliant gig, Kasabian smashed it and far out played a winey sulky pair of brothers just about to split up!

My very first gig is still my most memorable, Slade at Grimsby Town Hall in the early 80's when they were on their comeback, now they put on a show. My second gig was Saxon at Brid on the Denim & Leather tour
Lindesfarne's Christmas Shows at Sheffield Town Hall
Rush
Peter Gabriel
Thin Lizzy, last ever gig in UK
Roger Waters doing The Wall

Frank Turner at The Forum in Tunbridge Wells a couple of years ago is right up there, only about 200 people there and was such a great gig.

Also for the most mental, The Pogues at the O2.

My 1st Festival Halifax Jazz Folk and Blues

My 2nd Festival Weeley Festival 1971 - the year that Glastonbury didn't happen

Bowie at Top Rank the 1st time 1971/2? not as Ziggy although that was excellent

Since then, too many to remember

My worst Pink Floyd at Top Rank, the only gig I have ever walked out on banks of tape recorders playing sounds in support of a little live music and I was in the crowd on the balcony

Rob

Forgot about the Inspirals. Saw them at Manchester Apollo God knows how many years ago. Proper mosh pit stuff.

Charlatans at Leeds Uni about 1999 were excellent. 30 minute jam of Sproston Green to finish off. Nice.
