England School boys 1956
« on February 21, 2015, 12:04:10 pm by roversdude »
Just watched Terry Venables on Soccer am
His first football memory was playing for England School Boys against Scotland it showed a programme for the game - in goal was a R Hempsal from Doncaster
Does anyone know anything else about this guy
Interestingly a W Bremner was in the Scotland side who kicked TV all over the pitch

His first football memory was playing for England Schoolboys?

Not much of a memory. My first one is playing in the backs between Clifton St and Firbeck St in Denaby as a 4 year old, pretending to be Celtic, because they'd just beaten one of the Proddy teams 6-1.

Internet's amazing int it?

I've just found out that it was May 72 and I was 5 years old. And it wasn't the Proddies, it was the Plastic Papists.

Andy Cameron was one of the best schoolboy footballers to come out of Doncaster around that time.
I think it was in the 1970s when I watched him a few times playing for Doncaster Boys.
Didn't know of his early demise.
What a shame.

George Bailey from Stainy played for England Schoolboys, signed for Man Utd but never made an appearance, I think he played a couple of times for Rovers on loan

Andrew would have been about 60 now had he lived. Thinking on he may have been in his 40's when he died. Complications from diabetes.
He told me he couldn't hack it as a pro footballer. Not ruthless enough. He was s very intelligent bloke.
Would have been 1960's when he played for Donny Boys.

I was at one of the England schoolboy games at Wembley when Venables was playing, and we had a lad called Adametz (might not be the correct spelling) playing in goal and a forward called Taylor, both from Donny.
