I think that the best I ever got was  set of glasses and a jug from their store in Waterdale.
I think that the guy that started them went on to found Argos when the stamps started going downhill.
I well remember driving past garages that didn't give stamps and looking out for garages offering double, triple or even quadruple stamps. We even used to moan about petrol prices in those days little knowing what the future held.

I remember as a kid it seemed like you needed to collect a book full of the stamps just to get a couple of tumblers...

I remember them. If i'd been good, i was allowed to lick them before sticking them in. Eee, back in Yorshite in the 60s that were a raight treat for a nipper, (the occasional paper cut on the lips notwithstanding).

Now as regards size of articles, i vaguely remember a time when these and John Player  cigarette tokens almost became alternative currencies with a lot of trading going on in order to obtain radios and other consumer goods.

A mate of mine got a car with Green Shield stamps. When I see him I'll ask what car and how many stamps were required for it.

I seem to remember that a book and a quarter got a Wembley trophy football which I always burst in the thorn bush next to our neighbours gates which we used as goals.
