He did his knee in not long ago too.  Don't know if it was reported much over here, but he was conspicuous by his absence for a couple of months less than a year ago. No explanation at all given. And then he was back, limping, on something on tv. His public appearances for a while after all involved the use of a walking stick.

That is one seriously, seriously nasty guy. Did you know he had his Mother's brother, the uncle who had steered him through the years after he took over power,  arrested, tortured and killed about 18 months ago? Well, he did. He was removing any trace of a threat to his position. He is one vicious, scared and ruthless fellow. Anyone who travels there does so at significant peril. Mind you, you wouldn't. Their food situation is still shite. Their technology (except online warfare) is crap. There is one public internet connection. There are forced labour camps all over the place where they send you if your second cousin seventeen times removed picked his or her nose at the wrong time. They have a nuclear power station that they were bribed by the west to shut down for a few years - but they lit the fires again 18 months back in response to 'threats' from the US/South Korean relationship. That power station both produces the neccesary stuff for nuclear weapons (hence the emphasis on developing/stealing missile technology), and, is the best candidate, anywhere in the world, for the China Syndrome. It's scary it's so primitive and ramshackle. Makes the Russians look positively modern.

Scenario for the end of the world:

Kim Jong un gets fed up with South Korea and the Yanks. Sends some missiles somewhere where they'll hurt. Maybe even a nuclear missile if he can wait 5 or 6 years. Then the Yanks lean on him. Heavily. Just what would the Chinese do then eh? That is THE big question in South East Asia. Not the Chinese and the Japs. The Chinese will not allow the west to take over the entire Korean peninsula. They don't like Kim Jong un themselves. They think he's a lunatic. But they still won't let the West up that peninsula. So what would they do??? What would the Yanks do in response to that? And worst of all, what would the ever meddling Putin do....?

If someone could take care of Kim Jong un they'd be doing the whole world a very big favour.
