After tonight's game...

.... we could be 7th or 14th. It just shows the argument of league position can't be used to judge this seasons success.

Precisely.

The number of unacceptably limp and spineless performances in a massively underwhelming league should be the measure.

Well that's 2 wins from the last 11 now, excellent.

Well that's 2 wins from the last 11 now, excellent.

That is proper, proper, proper rubbish.

For the vast majority of those games we were (allegedly) desperately trying to get the final play off place and absolutely busting a gut (apparently) to clinch that spot - all with virtually no injury concerns whatsoever.

Let's call a spade a spade - that record is absolutely and utterly unacceptable.

One game shouldn't draw any conclusions, but a relegation and bottom half finish with that home record should.

Tonight is almost irrelevant, the long term pattern isn't good.

I agree, tonight is almost irrelevant, it's the bigger picture that's scary, we have played the last quarter of the season with only 2 wins, & playing football worthy of league 2.

This League this season has been terrible.

The quality on show in many many teams and games weve seen has been terrible.

We had a Good budget, we have failed .

Percentage wise of matches we have been terrible.   :crying:

There are better sides in the league this year than when we were last in it.

2 wins out of 11 is shocking.
Couple this with the record at the end of last season that saw us relegated.

The guy has had several seasons as a manager at two clubs and seemingly doesn't learn from his mistakes as the patterns and traits are there for all but the blinkered to see.

He has to go, but he won't. He has the safest job in football. Any other club in the football league would have got rid well before now.

You may be right Underwood. But how do you actually know? Surely it's your opinion rather than the fact you claim?

I don't believe i've mentioned fact anywhere in my post?

I can only assume, the powers that be at the club are happy with his performance over the last two seasons, despite saying our aim was to get promoted this term. If that was the aim, we have fallen massively short. It makes you wonder what the aim for next season will be.

You don't have to mention 'fact'. It is implicit in your sentence

"Any other club in the football league would have got rid well before now."

You presented that statement as a fact. I'd like to know how you came to that conclusion. i'm simply curious. Lots will agree. I may even do so myself. But I have never seen any evidence that it is actually a fact - so I'd like to know where you got yours from.

No, it was presented as an opinion. Wrong again Bobby.

What? I think if you read it your sentence is presented as fact  It can't be otherwise can it when there is no mention anywhere of 'opinion' and the crucial words state "Any other club in the football league would have got rid well before now". That is a positive statement. It's not qualified by any use of 'might', could', 'maybe' or anything else. It simply says 'would'. Ergo, it's a statement of fact. Anyway, I don't really care about arguing semantics. I really was simply interested in where you got this fact from? I'm as fed up as the next guy with what we're watching. I'd like to see exactly what head of steam is buidling up. Your post suggested there is something. Your subsequent flanneling rather destroys that sadly.

Have a look into managerial sackings, when they occur, how long the manager has been at the helm, etc etc.
Furthermore, have a look at the longest serving managers and their success rate compared to PD. Should give some basis to back up my "opinion".

There are four teams with better squads than us, take them away and i would say we are on a par to be good enough to be in one of the two play-off spots.
We didn't make it unfortunately, according to Paul nobody in this league, gives their youngsters a chance more than us, it's funny i only remember young players really getting their chance when promotion was over.

Our squad misses the dependability of our promotion squad, technically this one is better, but there are too many in and out performers.
Cotterill would go almost a whole game doing nothing, but could be relied on to produce one match winning cross every week, Chris Brown when the ball went upto him it stuck, this season the strikers can't hold onto it long enough.
We lost Husband we replaced him with Evina, played in the championship but always as a wing back, we don't play that way, so he was stuck in a flat four.
Stevens was brought in pretty solid player, but different to Husband in style.

The signings Paul has made are good players, they were never going to be as good as in the championship, any manager has to lower his standards for targets when you drop a league, you go down the pecking order of clubs players want to join.
For me we have lost our way a little in the transfer market, we used to recruit players from lower down who had something to prove, now we just plunder teams reserve squads, and the hunger has been lost a bit.

Laughable. How is playing a loanee over your own youngsters giving them a chance?

The man is a joke and I fear for next season if he is still in charge.

It is that what worries me, if he is considering buying him then we may as well throw in the towel for next season to. You would think if he had any thought that he was using this as a shop window for a perm move his efforts would be increased, the fact that he is a lazy passenger in a loan spell doesn't hold much hope for anything more permanent!

Bob. Is it a fact that you are often incredibly condescending towards many posters on here, or is that just everyone's opinion?

Bob. Stop splitting hairs and finally agree with the great majority of posters on here: Dickov is completely and utterly clueless and should have already been sacked twice. The board now has a third opportunity to get rid of him. Third time lucky?? Not a hope in hell! Could you imagine how much money they would have had to spend had we actually got promoted?
