I don't think he would have been as good as Leo.

But better than Jon Paul Pittman surely?

Pittman was more John Paul I than II. A very short career!

None of us know exactly why he chose Bury instead of us, everybody's just pontificating.

This thread has gone beyond the Pontiff no return.

Time will tell whether not signing him was a cardinal error.

Who would you rather have signed this season say on a free.  Chris Brown or Pope?

To be honest I am glad we didn't get Pope.  He seems to be a very gobby young man who should learn to keep his mouth shut. He seems to think he has the right to say whatever he wants about  Port Vale. We can do without that kind, they never settle in with the rest of the squad.

That's what I am beginning to think too...I don't think we'll be looking at Browny but was thinking just how much of a team player he was. Dickov obviously likes a target man up top...and for some reason didn't go all out for Pope as I'm sure if he really wanted hin we could have got him. Makes me wonder do we have a very good striker about to sign...

But we didn't play with a target man apart from maybe
 2 games with Ikpeazu
Most of the time it was Tyson with a 5 behind him

I think this goes to the heart of what is the 'Dickov way'?

He played with one up last season and with two up last season, usually without a proper target man - save the brief and hugely underwhelming Uche episode.

He has now clearly been briefing Paul Goodwin at the DFP that he is seeking a traditional target man.

What is concerning is that we went through a huge number of striking options last season and none of them were really that effective and very few of them could have been called a target man. This now though seems to be the aim.

Making it up as he goes along or adapting to League One? You decide.

Unfortunately i still don't know what he has been trying to do (playing style) since he has been here, he seems to have a jumble of ideas, has a go at them all and hopes one works, i am hopeful he will decide how he wants to play this season.
You can't play great all the time, you have to adapt to suit the opponents you are playing to win the game i understand that, but the players seem to be confused to what he wants from them, let's hope he knows how he wants to go about winning games this season.

As we've missed out on Pope, I think we should go for ex-Bury striker Andy Bishop!

God forbid he have a bad game.

Wouldn't want to see everyone bashing the Bishop on here after the match.

With Pope we may have been able to walk over water, with Brown even if he couldn't part the ''Red and white sea'', he was always handy to lay across a puddle if we needed a bridge for others to cross, he laid over many a puddle in the rovers cause.

Can we have just one thread that doesn't descend into shite puns. I live away and so when I click on a link to see something new has been put on it, I'm hoping to see something about the club rather than some unfunny puns!

Sorry about this German, but I couldn't resist.

Can you imagine our poor thread writer The Vicar, slagging off both a Bishop and a  Pope after a bad game, had we signed both.
